@BarsottiKlb Somebody needs to track all the negative unintended consequences of hosting these games. We’re already seeing a large uptick in the homeless population on the east side of Jackson County, and I’ll bet they’re being pushed east deliberately

The American Medical Association is begging for more H-1B and J-1 workers from overseas while the CEO of the largest public hospital system is planning on replacing radiologists with AI. Something is not adding up.

@carney My kids and I read The Iliad when they were 11. They loved all the gory and horrible ways the different warriors died and arguing about battle strategy

Kids really dig the Odyssey and girls, at least, love Pride and Prejudice. But, yes, these are books that get BETTER when you read them later in life. Which is why you should read them with your kids.

Normalize saying the humanities is relatively indecipherable before thirty. An 18 year old reading it should consider himself bringing bricks out to a field one by one to build a house so that someday he might move into it. If you want a young man's game try mathematics.

@AppyOrtho This started for me at perimenopause and has continued ever since. The full moon and the next two nights are minimal sleep, no matter what I do. And yes, I have blackout curtains, no caffeine after 9 am, etc

It’s so straightforward only the justices of the Supreme Court could misunderstand or twist it

Prior to the existence of the Congressional Record, it was called the Congressional Globe. Therefore, I give you, from the 1866 Congressional debates regarding the passage of the 14th Amendment: “This will not, of course, include persons born in the United States who are foreigners, aliens, who belong to the families of embassadors or foreign ministers accredited to the Government of the United States, but will include every other class of persons.” — Sen. Jacob Howard, Congressional Globe, 39th Cong., 1st Sess., p. 2890 (May 30, 1866) “The provision is, that ‘all persons born in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens.’ That means ‘subject to the complete jurisdiction thereof.’ … What do we mean by ‘subject to the jurisdiction of the United States?’ Not owing allegiance to anybody else. That is what it means.” — Sen. Lyman Trumbull, Congressional Globe, 39th Cong., 1st Sess., p. 2893 (May 30, 1866) “Now, all that this amendment provides is, that all persons born in the United States and not subject to some foreign Power … shall be considered as citizens of the United States.” — Sen. Reverdy Johnson, Congressional Globe, 39th Cong., 1st Sess., p. 2893 (May 30, 1866) There is no question whatsoever: The 14th Amendment was passed with the full understanding, as captured by the very words of those voting on it, that citizenship for births is only granted to children born of American citizens.

I’m going to see Project Hail Mary for a second time this afternoon, taking one of my friends with me. She’d never see it on her own, but she needs to see this

@DonShift3 We had a guy running a construction/ reno business out of his garage in our apt complex. Midnight loads, 4 am loads, power tools running to work on stuff, we heard it all. My favorite: remote start on his heavy duty truck running for 40 min every morning

It's 7:30 AM and the future deportees decided that everyone in the complex needs to hear a skid-steer. At least they're better than the Tuesday 5:45 AM garbage man.
