Keeping Shereef in his current role would be a massive win for veterans, who deserve access to care that actually works. Despite his advocacy and vision, Shereef has faced censorship from the Biden administration, highlighting the challenges of pushing for real, innovative change within a broken system. I’ve had the privilege of working with Shereef and witnessing his brilliance firsthand. The potential partnership between the VA, DOGE, and our bold new HHS leadership could redefine healthcare—not just for our veterans, but for every American. The recent FDA decision is a devastating blow to our Veterans and the 13 million Americans suffering from PTSD. I’m heartbroken. I hope the FDA will collaborate with Lykos and others to expedite another Phase 3 study. If we could mobilize our entire country against COVID-19 after hundreds of deaths, surely the loss of 150,000 veterans to suicide demands immediate attention to our national mental health crisis. We can move quickly when we are determined! It's time to challenge the norm of daily pill-popping and push for treatments that offer real healing. We must urge our political leaders and the FDA to make this an urgent priority. To our Veterans who are also heartbroken by this decision, I’m so sorry.
