I am now gram63 at bsky.app/profile/gram63… I have requested my archive. Many thanks to the few remaining people here, who I have known across almost 15 years. You have enlightened life. It has of course, been the best, and then the worst of times.

@ryleywalker I love those studio recordings, but on the love recordings, he truly was astonishing .

@RichardBratby They all seemed to be having a roaring time. Especially Paul Watkins grinning like a highly amused Richard Griffiths, as if he and Adès were sharing a hilarious joke. Great concert. Thoroughly enable.

Ades is becoming increasingly interesting as a conductor. Volcanic Tevot with the Halle tonight but the unexpected encore of Leroy Anderson's Plink, Plank, Plunk really set the seal on the evening.

@johnbarrett2468 Treasure. One of my favourite albums of all time. Bought it and fell Head Over Heels with it the day of release. It’s magnificent.

@lancscricket Seems extraordinary to be at a major test cricket ground with no working scoreboard, and occasional, barely audible score announcements….

@BBCRadio3 Oh no. Just as happened to @BBC6Music - take all the things which make it loved, ditch them, & turn the station into the same thing as everything else, pitching to an audience aged 7. And please, please, stop advertising Podcasts. Try being a grown up, radio station.

@gram63 I have a few, not that I dislike, but that I am quite cool about. I don't get the fascination. The word trash was particularly provocative I thought.

The one really objectionable comment about Beethoven and Mahler referred to one genius and one as 'trash'... Nasty.

@deeplyclassical @mikeirons12 I adore Bach, but I know he irritates some. I realise that’s just how we all are. Ever fascinating though.

@mikeirons12 Isn’t it wonderful though that music moves us so? I loved the knockout, and just like the real thing, a predictable winner doesn’t negate the thrills and spills at group stage!

@mikeirons12 I worked a record shop manager for 20 years. I learned two main lessons: 1- the more I learn, the more I am aware that I know the tiniest fraction about music 2- other people’s passion for music I haven’t liked, has usually led to the most rewarding discoveries.

@hannahcfrench @BBCRadio3 Record Review & Extra have been a wonderful bookend to each weekend, and for once, Sunday evenings had something to look forward to. These changes have sadly removed so much of what I love about R3.

It was the @BBCRadio3 show that necessitated the iconic lockdown stickle brick holder: #RecordReviewEXTRA. 4 years on, it was out again to bring you tonight's last instalment of the week's latest & greatest recordings. #Nostalgia but also it's the best zoom holder out there. 1/2

@MahanEsfahani Saw the St John at Liverpool Parish Church c2019 as part of a service. Filed out into the darkness in silence. Such an emotional experience.

@andrewCDmcg @elin_manahan @BBCRadio3 How tragic that this will be the last of what I always describe as “My Favourite Radio Programme Of The Week” The mix of extended music with intelligent comment & thought - never banal “chat” - with the peerless Building a Library, has made this the sound of Saturday mornings.

Benjamin Britten's War Requiem heads for the Library at 1030. The composer's own recording sets the bar high, and @elin_manahan Thomas compares it with those that came after. Plus these new things from 9...come and join us for the last morning edition of Record Review @BBCRadio3

@kathystott @Dior Maybe she’s a fan of Biber’s Scordatura and is experimenting by adding a new level of minimalism…. Or maybe not

@deeplyclassical I have every one of these so far. Each new release, I play them all, back to back. It’s getting ever longer, and ever more revelatory. And of course, it’s (mostly) Haydn.

@LoveInner There is Bach. And some way below there are other matters: countries, politics, Picasso, Haydn, Shostakovich, Michaelmas, Microsoft, Apple, Newton, Einstein, The Nile, Everest, Australasia, Neptune, Alpha Centuri….

Love your Inner Classical Music Geek
If we take new-style dates for J.S.Bach, we have a problem this coming Sunday. His ‘new-style’ birthday is the SAME as Joseph Haydn’s, 31 March. But it’s also Easter Sunday this year. This could be worse than the Y2K bug! How the heck do we prioritise what to post about????

@DrJaninaRamirez Can I recommend listening to some life affirming music. Doesn’t matter what. Doesn’t matter why. Music will never fail to change you, to elevate you in some way.

Oh god. I’ve spent the last few days watching French far-right speeches for my latest book and I feel I want to scrub my skin out from the inside. So much hate and dangerous vitriol. Think I’ll curl up with some Father Ted to soothe my soul.

Ooh, that’s a nice thing to see as I leave Broadcasting House after our six hour Palm Sunday pilgrimage: moon over All Souls, Langham Place. Now just the bike ride home…thanks for listening ⁦@BBCRadio3
