@AIRGold_ This has been going on since the start of AEW. Someone will go through hell for a title shot and then 2-3 random people will just be given a title match before the person who earned it has a chance.

If the prize for winning the Owen Hart Cup is a guaranteed AEW World Title match, but the champion is already handing out title shots to anyone who asks, why should anyone bother with the tournament? Why take the hard route and win multiple matches just to get a title shot three months from now when you can just ask Darby for one today? That logic gap is a big reason why this tournament doesn’t feel as important as it should. That's why the world title shouldn't have an open challenge concept.

But in Japan, people try a cheap egg sandwich from 7-Eleven, Lawson, or FamilyMart and go: “Wait, why is this so good?” That’s the funny part. For Japanese people, it’s not special. It’s just something you grab before work, at the station, or late at night when you’re too tired to think. But for visitors, it feels weirdly impressive. Not because Japan invented the egg sandwich. It didn’t. Japan just took a very normal food and made it soft, clean, cheap, and reliable. And honestly, that might be one of the most Japanese things ever.
