Sunday’s DAO call covered a lot of ground My favorite highlight was Bohemian showing off the new Grape Treasury Tracker he built for the community Before that, we touched on world news and the economy, then dove into a long discussion on merit rewards, which took up most of the session (would address grape reward structures soon in another tweet) There were plenty of side conversations too vibecoders, AI, and more before we wrapped things up with raffles. On Sunday's DAO CALL | 19th April, 2026 We made a new discovery about Pre‑IPO opportunities and discussed the possibilities of trading Anthropic on Solana before its eventual listing in traditional markets. what a sad day it was for AAVE and kelp DAO incident and now it affects ETH ecosystem as it was addressed during the last call We also realized that our last post on Monad gained insane interactions. Together, we explored the best ways to form a partnership with the Monad ecosystem and introduce our DAO tooling set to the borderline ecosystem since we discovered there are currently no DAO‑related operations on Monad. A community member even took the initiative to reach out to someone from the Monad team for a potential introduction. Grape Wallet was discussed as always. it's beta testing is currently live yielding more updates by @ForkedKirk and kuolos It now supports multiple chains including Solana, Monad, and Sui, and community members shared valuable feedback on this expansion. Merit and performance were reviewed, and we wrapped things up with some raffles to keep the energy high. Grape keeps moving forward. To understand how this $293 million heist happened, here is the process broken down step-by-step: Fake the Deposit on Kelp DAO: Kelp DAO is place where people put their Ethereum (ETH) to earn extra rewards. When you give Kelp your ETH, they give you rsETH as a receipt. It's supposed to be worth exactly what you put in. The hacker found a bug in the LayerZero-powered bridge code and tricked the bridge that made the contract believe they had deposited a massive amount of ETH on another blockchain (while bridging assets, your deposit is confirmed on a blockchain you're bridging from - something like a receipt and you get equivalent asset on the blockchain you prefer) So, the hacker didn't "steal" existing money from a vault; they tricked the system to create rsETH that weren't backed by real ETH deposits. The bridge was used as a tool to trick the system. Launder via Loan on Aave V3: Now the hacker had 116,500 rsETH, and deposited the rsETH into Aave as collateral (something of value used to guarantee a loan) to borrow real, liquid WETH (Wrapped Ethereum) ~ $293M in value. Disappear using Tornado Cash: Once the hacker had the real WETH from Aave, they quickly moved it through Tornado Cash - like a mixer that scrambles transaction history, making it uneasy for researchers to see where the money went next. Why it matters to you? This is why Aave had to freeze everything. They are left holding the unbacked rsETH while the hacker ran off with the real ETH from Aave's lending pools. Human Governance fully gets involved when the code breaks. For recovery on the bad debt Maybe a treasury bail out - use this to buy back and burn the unbacked rsETH to bring back balance OR issue new recovery token - phased recovery plan to compensate Aave and affected users over time Aave’s Umbrella system is officially the hero here. It's their built-in insurance that uses staked assets to cover situations like this. Technical updates could be to introduce rate limits so certain amounts could initiate a system pause and check; Set timers and multi sign verification on huge amount bridging. Hope Kelp figures this out with Aave, for the users and ecosystem in general.
