Many things from this past cycle make me cringe, most notably: - the glorification of "degens" - the notion that juvenile PFPs are The Metaverse - flashy, vapid fundraising announcements - over-the-top conferences I'm looking forward to a more grounded 2023

Last week, I was talking to a friend who is a crypto long-timer. He said that for things to feel as bad as they did in 2018, crypto would need to fall another 50-80% from here. It's not bad until it's existential. I think I agree.

Employer brands are built on PR. The lack of tranapsrency on quality forces you to rely on the WSJ/TC article you read, the billboard you saw on the highway or the TV show mention. These are almost always negativly correlated with quality. @grappaxyz is working to solve this.

Much of Silicon Valley is the reshuffling of uninspired, unremarkable individuals with one Great Brand on their resume, being recycled through tens of other Aspiring Great Brands. Do not outsource your talent evaluation to Brand identification, otherwise your company will suck.

the general theme was lots of cheap money-seeking yields. The rise of rates changes the dynamic. Projects that promised yield without creating real-world growth will keep blowing up. Makes me even more excited about @grappaxyz

It’s unfortunate that the default way to signal competence is stating your experience in doing the job. Enthusiasm/ability to learn/care are magnitudes more important, yet most people don’t say “I care more than anyone” in job interviews.
