@bschneider126 I think the term gets used by the architects almost as a way to get permission from owners to push the design a bit. No one ever says "stroke play" course but designers do get pushed into toning things down by some owners and committees in the interest of handicaps and score.

@Planet_Golf @capewickham Seems to me you wanted Mike's name on it to get the raters and ranking, and now that you have the ranking, you want to set the record straight?

Cape Wickham Links – The Inside Design Story
In response to what feels like an attempted rewriting of history, we’ve published for the first time the truth behind the creation of Australia’s premier modern golf course. @capewickham

@feedtheball @CabotSaintLucia Obviously a very beautiful green complex...but is it only me or does it seem over bunkered? Are bunkers there to make the hole more playable? Just asking based on photo, my guess if I was there in person I might feel different
English

The par-3 16th @CabotSaintLucia will be one of the most talked about on the course, and it’s like it was just there waiting for golf. Mike Keiser rated it a perfect 10. He also gave the par-3 17th a 10 (see previous photos in profile). Wind comes in fronting and from the left.

@StretchZEllis @Rickgolfstx Have you seen the list of raters; designers on the list? It’s easy to say that a course is ranked high because someone involved is in the panel, but when you look close you’ll see that argument doesn’t hold up. It takes more than one vote.
English

@StretchZEllis @Rickgolfstx I don’t believe Mike Nuzzo rates for GM, however I do, as does Tom. But rather than accusations of ballot stuffing, why don’t you make an architectural argument, especially since you seek a career in the field.

Most affordable course on TOUR? Greens Fees for Memorial Park, host of next week's Houston Open:

@jbcullens @BryanTweed16 @GOLF_com There’s only one course in Golf Mag Top 100 and it’s not on the DMN list
English

@BryanTweed16 @GOLF_com Trinity Forest is not in the top 5 in DFW. Maybe they meant Whispering Pines in Trinity, TX. It is the #1 course in Texas.

Initial takeaways from @GOLF_com Top 50 courses in “The Heartland”
1) Whistling Straits behind Camargo, Southern Hills, Inverness, & The Golf Club is VERY surprising.
2) Where is Arcadia Bluffs?!?
3) What is Whispering Pines in MN? I haven’t seen it in ANY major lists before?!

@chambleebrandel I don’t think golf fans over react when one or two players have an exceptional week. But when 24 players are -17 like at TPC Sum or 72 of 77 are under par at Sherwood - the combo of the equipment and set up has made the pro game less fun to watch. There should be some challenge
English

@TheFoodSnobFrog @Sundogmonkey @SmartGolfBets @GolfandGambling It’s not new, it’s newly renovated but originally built in mid 30’s. It’s a huge golf course, almost 300 acres with ample room around every hole. Largest course in Houston area.
English

@Sundogmonkey @SmartGolfBets @GolfandGambling Problem with spectators are the unavoidable few places where ppl are bunched together: esp. here where its a new muni course never used before and maybe not ideal for large crowds.
There could be places where players/public are too close.
Nobody wants a superspreader event 😕
English

Imho, allowing even 2,000 spectators per day at the Houston Open is utter stupidity by the heretofore responsible #pgatour Why take the risk?
English

@the_woke_yolk Sure. And your bunker shapes can come from the clouds you see drifting in the sky.

@Dundee_Golf Ahh...the smell of pond muck in the morning...nothing like it
