I left the core of a hay bale for the cows to chew on
They pushed it past the electric fence into the creek because I guess they didn’t like that kind of hay

@_kaitoney Our cows will graze out to -40 and colder as long as we make sure they are getting enough energy. In fact most of our cows prefer to graze. Most of our beef cows have never been in a building in their lifetime. For the record freezing is not cold.

@kowalchukfarms1 I think it says something about adding value. While there are economies of scale, the Monnette farm was not adding value over and above the folks farming before. They were consolidating risk as well as land…

It says less about the health of the prairie Ag sector and more about an unsustainable business model
We’ve seen it on a smaller scale for many years in our communities, A farm grows too fast through borrowed cash, hires everything out and eventually it catches up to them…
