An update in regards to @cmcdavid97 & his future in Edmonton with the @EdmontonOilers A source close to Connor McDavid tells us today that resigning in Edmonton isn’t something people should worry too much about. He saw & heard the social media buzz around his comments. McDavid feels he put a lot of pressure on himself during this #StanleyCup Final as he wants to do this for his city, fans, teammates, coaching staff, support staff, organization & ownership. He’s upset with himself more than he is with the organization, he felt he could & should have played better. There is a strong hope & belief in the future here but it is important to make steps to improve the organization on & off the ice. This pressure has been felt by those around McDavid. Before his final press conference he finally felt better about things in terms of pressure & his own expectations because the conversations he had with others before he met with the media. Winning is still very much his main focus. He wants to help the organization do that from everything we heard today from our source close to Connor McDavid. The conversations with Stan Bowman & Jeff Jackson will continue through the summer to sign the biggest contract extension in the history of the @NHL & McDavid knows he has an understanding the bar he sets helps others players to get paid as well but there is that fine balance in terms of how much is too much in which winning Cups can be hard if you take too much.
