I can confirm that I will be requesting the permission of the NEC to stand in the Makerfield by-election. I grew up in this area and have lived here for 25 years. I care deeply about it and its people. I know they have been let down by national politics. Ten years ago, I decided to leave Westminster. Why? Because, after 16 years, I came to the conclusion that our national political system does not work for areas like ours. I learnt this fighting its failure to invest in the Wigan borough, for justice for the Hillsborough families and against its treatment of Greater Manchester during the pandemic. Over the last decade, I have been challenging this failure from the outside and building a new and better way of doing politics. We have built Greater Manchester into the fastest-growing city-region in the UK and put buses back under public control, introducing a £2 fare cap to help people with cost-of-living pressures. However, there is only so much that can be done from Greater Manchester. Much bigger change is needed at a national level if everyday life is to be made more affordable again. This is why I now seek people’s support to return to Parliament: to bring the change we have brought to Greater Manchester to the whole of the UK and make politics work properly for people. Millions are struggling and they need the Labour Government to succeed. It has already made changes to make life better for them in its first two years. After this week, we owe it to people to come back together as a Labour movement, giving the Prime Minister and the Government the space and stability they need as the by-election takes place. I want to recognise the difficult decision taken by Josh Simons and the sacrifice he and his family are making. I have worked closely with him as Mayor on issues like flooding and illegal waste dumping and have seen first-hand how effective he has been. He has put the communities of Makerfield first, made a real difference for them and should take great pride in that. Finally, I truly do not take a single vote for granted and will work hard to regain the trust of people in the Makerfield constituency, many of whom have long supported our party but lost faith in recent times. We will change Labour for the better and make it a party you can believe in again. ENDS

I’m asking you, Labour Party WHY are you doing this? Why are you pressing the self destruct button? There’s 3 years before the next general election. That’s plenty of time to turn things around.

Horrific news on the markets. Everything is already just so expensive for British families, and with oil prices soaring? It’s going to get worse. A lot worse. We should be honest about the consequences of the Iran war. Petrol is going to get more expensive. A lot more expensive. What does that do? Drive up the cost of everything. Inflation. More and more inflation. The markets are in turmoil. Life is going to get yet more costly in our country. It’s reported that petrol may go through the all-time high of 191.5p per litre. Brutal. Absolutely brutal. Who is going to suffer? British men and women. Is this a surprise, after what’s happened in Iran? No, no it is not. What did they all think would happen? Tony Blair, Farage and many others want Britain to dive headfirst into this war, but that is not the right decision and we should have the courage to say so. That is what Restore Britain did on day one. If Britain starts dropping bombs, how many of these Iranian illegal migrants that have already invaded our country are poised to act? To disrupt? To kill? There will be many more attempting the crossing. Terrorists? Spies? Soldiers? It’s just a fact. Plenty will already be in hotels across the country. Endless foreign wars do not serve the British people. When Tony Blair is urging intervention in the Middle East, that should tell us exactly what we need to know. That man is a danger and a disgrace. But the immediate crisis is the soaring cost of living crisis that is about to get a lot worse thanks to the oil price and shipping disruption. And it is a crisis. So much is impacted. Major issues for farming, industry, everything. Given our pathetic reliance on imports, Britain is spectacularly vulnerable. Reeves must urgently slash fuel duty to protect British motorists, and everyone else. Because British families are going to really suffer over the coming days and weeks. That’s just the reality now. All British political parties need to start taking decisions that will solely benefit the British people. That is exactly what Restore Britain is doing. British people first, every single time. I fear we are about to endure a very challenging and a very expensive period. British men and women simply cannot afford it. Reeves must act and cut fuel duty. This must now urgently happen.

I am so utterly fed up of this constant lie that Britain is absolutely reliant on low-skilled immigration to keep our country dragging along. That is just not true. It's boring and it's wrong. Let’s take the NHS. We’re always told how its built on immigration. Total nonsense. Reason number one - if we trained our own people, there would be no need to import foreign professionals through such vast numbers. We deliberately block British boys and girls from training medicine, then ship in staff from the third world. And let’s be clear. Their training is often not good enough. Their language is often not good enough. Their attitude is often not good enough. That’s just a fact. The NHS needs translators, but not for the patients - it’s the sodding staff half the time. So we have some of the brightest young British men and women unable to train through our own decisions, and we replace them with migrants who are all too often not up to the job. Great work, everyone. What a result that is. Even British medics who have been trained can’t get work. Those roles are being filled by imported Nigerians. It all just sounds too ludicrous to be true. It is very much absolutely true. Then these pro-immigration hide behind the fact that they bumped into a foreign receptionist in a hospital. It is absolutely nothing personal against these specific individuals, I don’t blame them. I blame our rotten politicians. I’m sure that receptionist is a possibly a nice lady, but she shouldn’t be here. We have millions of healthy Brits on benefits doing nothing. The answer is quite simple - GET THEM WORKING. There is also the moral argument of taking these individuals away from their own countries, but I am uninterested in that. But let’s just park all that for one moment. Why is demand so high in our hospitals? Go and sit in a hospital waiting room in London, Birmingham, Manchester - pretty much anywhere in Britain other than leafy Surrey. It’s packed full of foreigners. They have every need catered to them. Don’t speak English? Great. We’ll fund the translator. Hundreds of millions are spent on this. It is, and I don’t apologise for my language here, a total piss-take. All whilst taxpaying British men and women are unable to see their GP, get a scan or receive timely treatment. I have no issue with bringing in the odd brain surgeon or oncologist. Great, let’s do that until we can train our own. But to suggest that Britain’s health service is so indebted to immigration is total bullshit and we should call it out for the reasons stated above.

I’ve been trying to estimate the UK’s true population. Official estimates have it at 69.3 million. I believe that is way off… I’ve been informed by Govt that there were 91 million active mobile phone subscriptions at the end of September 2025. Up 895,000 in ONE year. Now. Let’s think about that. Some people will have two for whatever reason, but not that many. And of course millions of children won’t, nor will some elderly people. Current estimates of the illegal migrant population are SO wrong. It is millions out. I’m going to explore this further, and continue urging Government to do the same. So far, they have refused my requests. There are FAR more people living in the country than the authorities realise. The size of our illegal migrant population is VAST. They all must be deported.
