1/2 At the @dcexaminer, @FreeConTalk signatory Casey Given argued that plans in California and other states to impose wealth taxes could cripple charitable giving. “Proponents of wealth taxes argue that government redistribution is a more equitable and reliable way to fund social priorities,” wrote Given, the president of @JoinYoungVoices. “But this presents a false choice. A thriving society depends on both effective public institutions and a vibrant civil society. “Weakening one in favor of the other is not a balanced approach — it’s a risky one.” #FreeCon

@HattieMags @BrianBalfourNC Factual basis? Do you read your own tweets? It's all very far, right-wing ideology. If you want to argue that you're a Christian White Nationalist, Fascist, or Authoritarian instead of a Nazi, I am all ears.

@graymccheerwine @BrianBalfourNC Yet you called me one without any factual basis to justify your own needs and continue repsponding to me. Makes no logical sense. You are a most curious and confounding human.

Disgraced grifter and failed "researcher" @BrianBalfourNC wants segregated schools that keep poor families and students with disabilities in underfunded public schools while his pals like Bob Luddy line their pockets with taxpayer money from wealthy families. #ncpol #nced

@HistoryBoutique Why would British people care about a video of a serial rapist and pedophile cosplaying as someone who cares about Christianity? What church does Donald Trump attend?

I appreciate @JoshKivett’s public service reminding us all of this scandal: “Rashad McCants, a star on UNC’s 2005 championship team, told ESPN he made the Dean’s List without attending a single class. Ten of fifteen players on that title team were enrolled in paper courses.”
Dr. Lynn Fynn-derella🐭@Fynnderella1

A student-athlete turned in a 146-word essay about Rosa Parks — one paragraph, riddled with errors, no sources — and got an A-minus. That single paper helped expose the biggest academic fraud in NCAA history. For 18 years, from 1993 to 2011, a department secretary named Deborah Crowder ran fake courses at the University of North Carolina. @UNC The classes never met. There was no syllabus and no professor. Students turned in one paper per semester. Crowder admitted she never read them. She skimmed introductions and handed out A’s. UNC’s academic counselors steered athletes into these courses each semester, specifying what grades each player needed. Athletes made up 47% of enrollments despite being just 4% of the student body. Rashad McCants, a star on UNC’s 2005 championship team, told ESPN he made the Dean’s List without attending a single class. Ten of fifteen players on that title team were enrolled in paper courses. When whistleblower Mary Willingham revealed that 60% of athletes read at a 4th-to-8th grade level, UNC attacked her publicly and fans sent death threats. She was forced to resign. In October 2014, a 136-page investigation confirmed the scope: 188 fake classes, 3,100 students, 18 years of fraud. And the punishment? In October 2017, the NCAA ruled there were no significant violations. Zero penalties. No vacated wins. No postseason bans. @UNC calls themselves a bastion of academia. How incredibly pathetic.

NC Dem chair is mad that Democrats' sue-til-blue collusive settlement got kicked to the curb. If you want to "fix" public education, reduce the administrative bloat. As Judge Manning noted: It's not a matter of funding. But Democrats need to keep funding their indoctrination political machine. #NCpol #NCed #NCGA

We’re going to keep fighting for a South where regardless of your zip code, you’re guaranteed the right to an education and tools you need to succeed. Today, republicans on the North Carolina State Supreme Court said that children who are born in rural communities deserve less.

@PeteKaliner @doriannpalmer @philbergerjr Pete is moralizing about behavior? Remember when Madison Cawthorn locked girls in his car and raped them during college and you made excuses on your show about how "that's just normal college guy behavior" Nobody is interest in your moral compass, shithead.

@doriannpalmer @philbergerjr Had Earls recused in those earlier cases, you'd have a stronger argument. But Berger's refusal is less problematic and obviously understandable given Earls' behavior.

@graymccheerwine @PeteKaliner Judicial activist, not a neutral judge. Uses the bench to push ideology instead of interpreting law. Treats the Constitution as a flexible document. Decisions framed as driven by “equity” over equal application of law. Projects all of this on her opponents.
