Two+ years after we uncovered their scheme, two leaders of a fake charity running concessions at Petco Park have pleaded guilty. They took $3.5 million intended for youth softball. Put $2 million in their pockets.

@farhip @washingtonpost Not quite the same but in 2009 (ages ago) Platinum Equity bought the San Diego Union-Tribune, took out like 192 jobs two days later, then another 112 two months on.

These stats are admittedly a little funky, but it’s possible today’s @washingtonpost bloodbath was the single-largest one-day layoff of journalists in American history. The Messenger’s closure in 2024 (~300 or so staff) is probably closest. Either way, puts it in perspective.

In this video, you can watch Border Patrol cause an accident with a US citizen, refuse to help him, and then ultimately arrest him for asking for their insurance. They locked up him, but then released him with no charges. Again only because he had video.
