@greytownbuilder You must have a shitload of panels. We never get more than 3.5kW on a sunny day. We have 13 panels.

Explain to me like I’m five: I’m currently getting 8.4 kW of electricity from my solar panels while only using .5kW, the rest is charging my batteries and going back to the grid (it’s a cloudy day). Why then, are we building an LNG terminal while the main LNG fields are on fire?

@real_RAoP I’m not saying we replace our thermal generation. Or hydro.

@greytownbuilder It takes a huge number of solar systems to match the output of NZs dedicated gas-only thermal generation capacity ( approx 1,200 MW to 1,300 MW). Investment would be an order of magnitude higher for equivalent roof top solar

It is insane to think that releasing carbon that has taken millions of years to store in the ground over a few decades won’t have any effect on the environment. Yet, in a time of increasing fossil fuel prices we’ve decided to build a gas powered power plant. Utterly insane.

Lost a very old peach tree tree today in the storm. Very prolific fruit producer. At least 25 yrs old. Gutted.

I always put a couple of bay leaves the tomato based sauces I make. I have no idea why, I doubt anyone knows why. I’m just scared something will go wrong if I don’t. That’s all I wanted to say.

Corrupt? Sure. But if that’s what it takes to get her out of politics I’m all for it. 'Nakedly political': No rivals considered for Collins' new job rnz.co.nz/news/political…

Taxing fossil fuels instead of encouraging solar is insane but there you go. I’ve just received my first positive power bill after installing solar last month. My monthly bill is usually over $600.

@camrynpetebrown This is the quickest drop in gdp since 1991 (excluding covid year). I didn’t expect miracles, but their decisions have hurt not only the ‘economy’, but people’s lives.

@nz_voter To be fair I don't think he promised growth this quick. I might be wrong. Generally, though, I don't expect problems to take less time to fix than they took to create.

Hang on, didn’t Luxon consistently tell us he was going to sort the economy through growth? Why do people keep buying this bullshit. When you cancel everything. When you reduce tax take. When you reduce services. When you drive emigration. The economy suffers.
Craig Renney@CLRenney

Data released by Statistics New Zealand today showed a significant slowdown in the economy over the past six months, with GDP falling by 1% in September, and 1.1%. We now have a real growth emergency in New Zealand. A 🧵
