@waynenilsen Yup! 35” with outside tires removed.
I’ve had a 2013 ford raptor so using that for now. 8k towing capacity so still a little wiggle room. This machine is 3820lbs

@grinditstumps Nice this one fits in a 36in gate too right? Did you have to upgrade truck too?
English

@billy_zayy Yea definitely try to rent the largest hp machine you can. I would highly suggest renting before buying just so you don’t have such a huge up front capital commitment and then have to figure out how to sell if demand isn’t quite there or you’re learning.
English

@grinditstumps Nice! In hindsight, what do you think best path is for aspiring stump grinding owner operator? Rent the highest hp machine you can find? Then go big and buy?
Thinking bandit 2550 or lower hp calrton sp5014. Thoughts on machines to rent then buy? I see so many opinions out there

@LocalSEODude @StumpGuyTy For sure! I got myself ranking number 1 on google maps within 2 weeks of starting and my websites pages are still being indexed by Google 💪

Just got my first cold call from someone who was referred to me from a past client. Feels good!
Started this trying to emulate @StumpGuyTy but 95%+ of work has been retail. Still trying to crack my first few regular tree sub jobs and hope that that’ll explode my revenue 📈

@GradyBass @StumpGuyTy Close to 200. I used outscraper to generate 2 lists. Still more to contact and now that I have a larger machine a few I will follow up with!
English

@grinditstumps @StumpGuyTy Congrats & good luck. How many tree companies have you contacted to try & generate sub jobs for? Did you use outscraper to create a list and contact based on that?
English

@lightningstumps I’ve lost at least 5 customers my first month cause they said someone came and just did it for them.
Clearly 0 cares about calling 811. If I get to the customer first I usually explain 811 and if someone doesn’t call they may not even be insured and it’s legally required.
English

@StumpGuyTy Did anyone say ‘bout tree fiddy’ yet? 💀
English

@grinditstumps YES! Which machine did you pick?
English

@NC_state_parks @RootedGrace @StumpGuyTy @EBikeMikeVA Do you have a Vermeer dealer nearby? May be able to source directly from a dealer and pickup or have shipped if you’re in dire need until you can find some online for cheaper

Have ya'll bought stump grinder teeth recently? I have been buying ~110 yellow jackets on ebay at a time- Its almost like they don't exist anymore - have ya'll noticed this? The price has tripled! What have ya'll been doing? @grinditstumps @RootedGrace @StumpGuyTy @EBikeMikeVA

@lightningstumps @AndrewRSeeley1 Yea I landed one sub job for someone with a 25-30ish hp grinder. I have gotten a few responses that they have their own but when I get a larger machine I’ll start following those up with the machine size I have and then include it going forward.
English

@grinditstumps @AndrewRSeeley1 What responses have you been getting? Or no response at all?
I heard plenty of “we have a grinder” but discovered that most of those had a small 25-35HP grinder. There was a clear need in my area for a big grinder.
English

@billy_zayy @AndrewRSeeley1 In talks for a 2650 right now
English

@lightningstumps @AndrewRSeeley1 Hundreds. Pulled two lists of 500 from outscraper. Prolly 350-400 usable from each. I’m on the second list.
English

@grinditstumps @AndrewRSeeley1 It’s also a numbers game. I pulled a list of 800 companies. How many contractors did you text?
