They're home. Seen below is Jazz Flight 7831 carrying the remains of First Officer Gunther to family in Ottawa, after first stopping in Montreal to deliver Captain Forest to his family. These men deserve so much more than our nation gave them this week. It's sickening. 😭

Wait a minute. MP Michael Ma thinks there is forced labour in China. Does @MarkJCarney think there is forced labour in China?

In 2021, MPs, including Liberals, voted to recognize the genocide, including forced labour, of Uyghurs by the PRC. In response, the Liberal government imposed sanctions on one PRC entity and four PRC officials in Xinjiang for these human rights violations. Around the same time, Article 23.6 of CUSMA came into force, which ban imports produced using forced labour into the North American free trade zone. Today, a Liberal MP intimated that Uyghur forced labour has not taken place, while questioning a former PCO official, @M_Johnston1. The Liberal government needs to answer the following question: Does the government still assess that Uyghur forced labour has and is taking place? This is important. If the government no longer assesses forced labour is taking place, that has implications for: - the sanctions imposed on the PRC entity and officials, - the imports of products from Xinjiang province into Canada, - the review of CUSMA, and - Canada-U.S. trade, including transshipments from Canada to the U.S. (the U.S. currently assesses that Uyghur forced labour is taking place). #cdnpoli

Denying forced labour in China is as empirically dishonest as saying the sky isn't blue. It also contradicts previous Liberal legislation on the matter. Perhaps Mr. Ma has not gotten around to reading up on his new party's policies since crossing the floor to join them. #cdnpoli

WATCH: Hong Kong-born Canadian MP Michael Ma tells a career civil servant that claims of forced labour in Xinjiang, China, are "hearsay" and blatantly defends the CCP. Ma: Have you witnessed forced labour in Xinjiang? Yes or no? Witness: I work closely with Human Rights Watch, where researchers did witness it.

Anyone international that is surprised by this activity, I would refer to my reporting on Senator Woo, this week, which includes a Senate speech attacking research on UFWD activities in Canada. Or my reporting of tape recordings of Woo from 2020. Or Woo’s standing in FIC.
Eliot Chen@eliotcxchen

You would be hard pressed to find a lawmaker in London or Washington who will carry water for Beijing on forced labor in Xinjiang in 2026. Yet whether it is for a lack of sophistication or for sheer gall, this continues to happen in Ottawa and from the governing Liberal Party

Stop 🛑 creating new laws that limit freedom, when even existing laws aren't enforced Stop 🛑 tolerating excuses from politicians who fund armed guards to protect property but not people

Stop 🛑 with the Human Rights Tribunals, they take 5 years. Stop 🛑 settling for volunteer lawyers, even though they have been a godsend until now. Stop 🛑 with the photo-ops with elected officials that do not fulfil their promises. Stop 🛑 begging for crumbs.

“When I think about my white European ancestors who came here, claimed these lands and introduced the human construct we call private property…” It’s all here: ❌ Inherited guilt based on race ❌ Private property as a “construct” ❌ Giving your public land away NDP “land back” activists are saying the quiet part out loud. Indigenous culture can be uplifted and revived without place names written in obscure script that nobody can read. The French language can thrive without airline CEOs being forced to prostrate themselves before parliamentary committees. That is, if you prefer results instead of control.

All this language controversy aside, the ban on foreign ownership of airlines should be quashed. It’s really quite ridiculous.

In the last couple months, the government has: 🇹🇼 Yanked govt reps back from a Taiwan visit. 🇨🇳 Sought a new partnership with China to position us for the "new world order". 🇨🇦 Had a member of their caucus deny slave labour in China. Are these happy coincidences? #cdnpoli

Publicly inciting hatred is a crime in Canada. Unless you are sieg heiling a group of Jews while threatening them with the “Final Solution” during a violent anti-Israel protest. Because apparently this is ok.
