Ben 'The Hawk' Hogan and Jimmy 'The Wardrobe' Demaret were very close friends both on and off the golf course - Hogan considered Demaret to be the best player he'd ever seen in windy conditions.

The 1942 Hale America Open - - Run exactly like the U.S. Open - Over 1,500 entries - Local qualifying at 69 sites - Sectional qualifying at most major cities Ben Hogan always maintained this should have counted as his fifth national title win. I agree.
