Jack Grealish… I get that in the stat driven social media age, coupled with a £100m fee, he can leave a lot to be desired from many, but I’ll always remember him very fondly. For one I’ve always felt ‘safer’ with him on the team sheet at his best, dictating match tempo, helping us to get over the line in important games whilst maintaining a good tactical shape for us in both attack and defence. I understand too, the argument that whilst stockpiling silverware, he could have been a free spirit elsewhere in the same mould he was at Villa, but his contributions are often overlooked imo, even amongst us City fans. He played a key role in the treble season run-in, probably his best form in a City shirt being one example. He’s just strikes me as a solid working class lad, enjoying making it as a footballer at the highest level, whilst not forgetting his roots, something of a player from a bye gone era. He conducts himself off the pitch as a class act, taking time to help fans, a recent example being him sending a video of support to a dear friend of mine who sadly recently passed, never seeking publicity. I’d like to think I’d be similar in his shoes. I wish him all the best & I’ll miss having him at the club.
