You raise a good point. My objective here is to suggest a road map for the RIGA to exercise informed due diligence in making a decision when they have been inundated with information from advocates.

@gssasse Respectfully, @gssasse, your article ends with seven straight questions but no answers. Given your deep experience in Rhode Island tax policy, if you’re unwilling to get the facts and propose solutions, who will?

RIGA should avoid river boat gambles making tax policy sea changes until they get the facts and deal with economic uncertainties. Follow the link below to view the article. RI lawmakers should get the facts before tax changes tinyurl.com/28lzfpl7

@RobertAWalshJr Good point. What may be different is @GovDanMcKee has a record which doesn’t poll well, and people may be looking for something different, and the GOP candidate may not have the experience and resources to be competitive

@RobertAWalshJr What if GOP endorsed and McKee is the D candidate. Would that be history repeating? Seems people are looking for change?

His biased political correctness will have a damping effect on people who want to invest in Providence.

PVD Mayor is telling potential investors not to consider Providence if they are not politically correct in his opinion. With this approach to governing the economic future of RI’s Capitol City should be if concern.
Jonathan Turley@JonathanTurley

...The mayor of Providence, Democrat Brett P. Smiley, also spoke out against the mural as "divisive." It is not just breathtaking but heartbreaking to see how even acknowledging victims is now considered triggering for many on the left.

Based on past performance at Commerce and Housing there are questions about this nominees fitness to have a second term at Commerce.

Being a member of the RIGA does not an automatic disqualification from serving in the RI Supreme Court. Nominees should be judged on their competence and qualifications. The Speaker is clearly a qualified potential member of the Supreme Court.

Yelnosky spent decades writing about merit selection. In 2013, he said the ABA excluded categories of lawyers from its ratings committee. He wants Shekarchi excluded before the process begins. Merit selection is American. Exclusion by category is not. This is politics cross-dressing as scholarship.
