You should not have to abandon yourself just to maintain a relationship. And I think many women are finally waking up to that. We’re realizing that peace matters. Gentleness matters. Emotional safety matters. Being able to breathe around someone matters. Women now would rather build a simple life with someone who is kind, emotionally present, emotionally safe, and genuine than to live in luxury while their nervous system is constantly suffering. Because real love doesn't require self-abandonment and shouldn't cost us our peace and sanity.

Something I’ve been reflecting on lately and discussing with other women in my circle, is how many women were conditioned to believe that suffering in relationships is normal and how hard it is to leave a toxic relationship. We grew up hearing things like: “Every couple fights. It's okay." “Relationships are hard.” “You just have to stick it out.” “Things will get better.”
