Can someone please explain to me like I'm 10 years old because I genuinely do not understand. My kid's school asked me to donate supplies this year. Paper. Pencils. Hand sanitizer. Tissues. I pay property taxes. My state has a $4 billion surplus. The federal education budget is $238 billion. The teacher is buying pencils out of her own paycheck. I'm sending in Ziploc bags. We just approved $900 million in public money for a new NFL stadium. We fund billionaires with tax dollars and fund schools with bake sales. Then we blame the teachers when the test scores drop. Then we blame the kids when they fall behind. The we blame the parents for not being involved enought. Everyone gets blamed except the people who decided pencils weren't worth funding. ‘Squatters rights’ definitely makes the top list of one of the dumbest things in America. A homeowner leaves on vacation, their house is empty, or, maybe the house is empty simply because they are getting ready to sell it. Maybe the house is empty because it’s their house and no one’s fcking business as to why it’s empty. Regardless, some broke ass losers see an empty home & just Decide: “yay, it’s mine now” The homeowner then has to wait months, going through the court system, which is a nightmare in itself, they have to take some legal obstacle, jump through hoops as if it’s a gladiator death match of the ages just to throw you bums out while their property is being endlessly trashed by you. That is some of the biggest bullsht I’ve ever heard. If you are in my home without permission, there is no good reason why I should not be able to grab you by the hair and throw you TF out immediately & expeditiously without any legal recourse.
