@HarryHamishGray I’ve actually parked on this area before whilst performing a concert at the cathedral. The paved area is part of the cathedrals land hence they get people to park on it if they can’t use other facilities or have loads of equipment /1

@NicholasHellen@AAPresident Wherever car parking spaces have been removed, businesses have reported a large drop in trade, particularly passing trade from car drivers - there are 37m of us! It's no coincidence that car-friendly out of town retails parks are booming, while anti-car High Streets are dying.
A London borough will remove 25% of car parking spaces +replace them with cycle hangars, pop-up cafes, “parklets” + even community libraries
They want to reclaim equivalent of 50 football pitches for general public

As part of a day of action for Operation Tramline, our officers patrolled the highways in a HGV truck to catch those drivers who use their mobile phone whilst at the wheel.
