One stark difference between R and Python. If I'm looking for a good natural spline implementation: R: I can directly import `splines` which Douglas Bates has been working on for 22 years. Python: google/copy/paste some snippet from StackOverflow and pray that it's correct.

how about a law that says you have to get a vaccine but the state isn’t making you do it, it’s just that everyone can sue you if you don’t, and if they win they get $10,000, if you win you get nothing

This is a prime example of the odd situation where as the US public doesn't trust the government enough the same powers end up monopolized in the hands of private companies - which the US public generally have even less control over ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

The FBI, Secret Service, DEA, Customs & Border Protection all use controversial facial recognition company Clearview AI, per this GAO report: gao.gov/products/gao-2… It lists all the US federal agencies that admit to using facial recognition systems, and what they use:
