中国外交部发言人汪文斌周二在记者会上回应曼彻斯特中国领事馆冲突时，指责该事件起因是“滋扰分子非法进入”领事馆。
他批评示威者“危及中国外交馆舍安全”，称“任何国家的外交机构都有权采取必要措施，维护馆舍的安宁和尊严”。
他还呼吁英国“采取有效措施，加强对中国驻英使领馆馆舍和人员的保护”。

英国大曼彻斯特警察（GMP）发布有关港人在中国领事馆遭殴打事件的声明，称事发时有“一小群男子从楼内出来，一名男子被拖入领事馆场地并遭到袭击。”
警方称其介入并将男子带离，而这名30多岁的男子身体多处受伤，在医院过夜接受治疗。
警方还表示，目前未有人被捕，重大事故小组探员正在调查该事件。
