What is the steelman argument for (correctly) naming and criticizing Lang's ideology but being vague about who threw the nail bombs and why? *All* NYC democratic electeds are doing it and I get the cynical take... but what's the steelman?

it’s message framing. Criticizing Lang is easy. Being specific about the nail bombs risks shifting attention to controversies around the mayor’s own circle: Oct. 7 praise, cheering torn hostage posters, and no clear condemnation of “globalize the intifada.” Vagueness keeps the narrative controlled.

Happy to know that our Mayor and First Lady are safe, but horrified that there was such a disturbing threat of violence outside their residence. Vile displays of Islamophobia will never be tolerated in our city.

כמה מילים על הסיפור של אסף שמואלביץ ששמו הותר לפרסום הבוקר. ( ואל תאמינו לשטויות שכותבים גורמי שמאל כעת!!! ) היה לנו ברדיו דרום את הסיפור כמעט מהרגע בו הוא נחשף בפיקוד דרום. כמה ימים אח"כ ישבתי מול קצין בכיר מאוד בצבא ושאלתי על זה, חשבתי שהפורום בו שאלתי אותו היה פורום נכון אבל הוא לא רצה להתייחס לזה ליד אחרים. אחרי זה קצינים שבעד עם ישראל ( גם אותו קצין כמובן בעד עם ישראל ונעשה לו עוול נוראי במלחמה שהתחילה תקופה קצרה אחרי שהגיע לאזור, זה סיפור לפוסט אחר ) סיפרו עוד כמה דברים והסבירו כמה המקרה הזה מסוכן. מדובר בשבועות הראשונים למלחמה. במקביל פניתי לצנזורה לברר אם מותר לפרסם והם ( במקרה הזה היו ישרים ) ואמרו שמבחינתם אין בעיה לפרסם אבל כדאי לבדוק אם יש צא"פ. ניסיתי לברר מה פתאום יש צא"פ על עבירה בטחונית כזאת, מילא צנזורה... ואז הסתבר שהשב"כ בתמונה ומישהו פנה לבית המשפט בשביל להוציא צו איסור פרסום. שם לקח זמן עד ששלחו את צא"פ ובכלל היו גורמים שונים שעשו הרבה בשביל שהסיפור לא ייצא החוצה. ( צא"פ הוארך פעם נוספת לאחר מכן ) בשלב מסויים, פתאום הסיפור עלה בידיעות ( כמדומני זה היה חודשיים בערך אחר שמואלביץ ביצע את העבירות. במקביל התחלתי לפרסם את מה שמותר היה תחת צא"פ ואז קיבלתי טלפונים ( חלקם מוקלטים ) מגורמי שמאל שאמרו לי שאין בכלל סיפור ולמה אני ככתב מתעסק עם דבר כזה שאין בו למעשה לטענתם כלום... מילא, היה מדובר באנשים שהייתי מדבר איתם באופן שוטף, אבל זה לא מה שהיה. בפועל, זה כמובן דירבן אותי לסגור עוד קצוות ולברר עוד ועוד... הגעתי לאנשים שהיו קרובים מאוד לראש ממשלה שהיה כאן בשנים האחרונות ( לא ביבי ) והם סיפרו לי ששמואלביץ ניסה ליצור איתם קשר בשביל להגיע אליו. ( כאן יאמר לזכותם ולזכות אותו ראש ממשלה ( לא מעריך אותו בכלל אבל זה אכן לזכותו ) שהוא פשוט לא זרם עם הבקשות האלו ). נציין שבמקביל לשיחות עם אותם גורמים היו מי שהעבירו אלי ( ולאחרים ) תמונות של שמואלביץ עם בכירים שונים במדינה בשנים האחרונות. * לא נדבר עדיין על מי הכניס אותו לתוך הבסיס של פיקוד דרום ביום הראשון למלחמה והציגו אותו כקצין מודיעין, כך שהגיע למקומות הכי רגישים בזמן הכי קריטי ולאן הועבר המידע. לטענתם עדיין כל כך הרבה זמן אחרי שהפרשה נחשפה, לא נחקרו או נבדקו מספר גורמים שהיו איתו בקשר גם בימים שאחרי תחילת המלחמה. בנוסף, אחרי שגם הוא התוודע לדברים שוחחתי פעמים רבות עם מישהו שבעיני הוא גיבור ישראל, ח"כ אלמוג כהן, שלקח את הסיפור הזה ברצינות והתחיל לעבוד עליו למרות ההטעיות שניסו לעשות בתקשורת בשביל לשמור על שמואלביץ ושות'. אגב, לכל מי שלא מבין, מדובר בפרשה חמורה ביותר. לטענתם גורמים שמעורים בפרטים, במקומות בהם לא ניתן להכנס עם טלפונים הוא הסתובב עם מכשיר והצליח לתעד הע"מ ופרטים נוספים. ניתן עוד פרטים בהמשך אבל שתדעו שמדובר למעשה באחת הפרשיות הקשות. בצילום: שמואלביץ עומד לא הרחק משר הביטחון דאז, יואב גלנט. Believe it or not, it is possible to disagree with the actions of the Israeli government without hating all Jewish people. A nation state thousands of miles away, making political decisions, doesn't determine the fate of a 5,000-year-old faith.
