
Case Registered Against AP IPS Officer Sunil Kumar in Telangana Over Dowry Harassment Allegations
HYDERABAD, INDIA —
A formal case has been registered by the Telangana Criminal Investigation Department (CID) against senior Andhra Pradesh IPS officer Sunil Kumar. The action follows a legal complaint lodged by his wife, who has accused him of ongoing harassment and demanding additional dowry.
Following a review of the complaint, the Telangana CID police have booked the senior official under several stringent legal provisions:
IPC Section 498(A): Matrimonial cruelty and harassment by a husband or his relatives.
IPC Section 506: Criminal intimidation.
Dowry Prohibition Act (Sections 3 & 4): Penalties relating to the giving, taking, or demanding of dowry.
According to official reports, the complainant recently approached the Telangana Director General of Police (DGP) to detail the alleged harassment. Acting upon the explicit directives of the Telangana DGP, the case was formally handed over to the Telangana CID.
The Telangana CID police have officially commenced a thorough investigation into the matter to verify the claims and determine the next legal course of action.
