@mitsuhiko @senor_ganso @steipete My example - a good compact nuclear reactor will allow us to explore space, underwater, arctic way faster, establish a more permanent "bases", i.e. extend our reach. I don't see saving energy bringing something like this. And I do agree we are wasting lots of it.

An underappreciated aspect of the European energy crisis is that for the first time the price of energy is high enough, that people are starting to pay attention to how incredibly inefficient a detached house is, particularly if badly insulated.

@mitsuhiko @senor_ganso @steipete Degradation leads to extinction. Energy is possibilities or may be understood as freedom. Less energy less paths to develop. And a tightening path goes into a dead end.

@mitsuhiko @senor_ganso @steipete It's a path nowhere civilization-wise. All development is tied to access to better power sources and raising energy consumption. Reduction in it is a degradation.

@TPostMillennial That’s actually not her job, sure it maybe good for her to know, but her job is energy, not gas for vehicles, or how much we consume. Maybe look up what her role actually is, I did. Nowhere in there does it say “she’s responsible for keeping tabs on consumers.”
