i stopped selling AI automation
here's what i sell instead
used to walk into meetings and say:
"we'll automate your workflows"
"AI will handle the repetitive stuff"
"you'll save 20 hours a week"
close rate? maybe 15%
businesses heard "automation" and pictured:
→ robots replacing their team
→ systems they don't understand
→ becoming dependent on tech that breaks
fear kills deals
so i changed the pitch completely
now i sell "employee amplification"
same exact service
completely different frame
here's how it works:
old pitch: "we'll automate your invoice processing"
new pitch: "tinky winky spends 6 hours a day matching invoices. what if tinky winky did that in 11 minutes and spent the rest of the day on supplier negotiations—the thing you actually hired him for?"
old pitch: "AI will handle your customer emails"
new pitch: "po answers 200 emails a day. 180 of them are the same 12 questions. what if po only handled the 20 that actually needed a human brain, and spent the rest of the time closing deals?"
the client doesn't want fewer employees
they want better employees
they hired tinky winky because tinky winky is brilliant at negotiation
but tinky winky is drowning in data entry
they hired po because po closes deals
but po is buried in inbox management
automation isn't about replacing tinky winky and po
it's about unleashing them
when you pitch replacement, you trigger fear
when you pitch amplification, you trigger excitement
"your team is about to become superhuman"
"same headcount, 3x the output"
"tinky winky finally does what you hired tinky winky for"
close rate went from 15% to over 60%
same service
same price
same delivery
different story
stop selling automation
start selling what automation enables
comment "AMPLIFY" and i'll send you the exact pitch framework + the discovery questions that uncover who tinky winky and po are in every business

Generative AI will have a profound economic impact according to this @McKinsey research ($2.6 - $4.4 trillion annually). Efficiency, productivity, creativity, innovation and low barrier to entry are playing a massive part in this next frontier

A good first step forward in ensuring cybersecurity innovation puts AI front and center, however, the initial allocation of $1M might seem relatively modest considering the expansive objectives of the program.
That said, this initiative introduces promising secondary goals, which may well catch the eye of mainstream investors:
- It places a strong emphasis on integrating AI into cybersecurity innovation.
- The focus is squarely on empowering cyber defenders, signifying the commitment to use AI as a force for good.
- It lays the groundwork for pivotal discussions at the intersection of AI and cybersecurity, paving the way for enhanced understanding, collaboration, and progress in these crucial sectors.

This is a fascinating deep-dive into the SolarWinds hack. As cybersecurity professionals, we must continue to learn from such incidents and strive to stay ahead. A few highlights I took away:
- The way the hackers concealed their tracks is impressive, and at the same time worrying for our enterprise security programs
- Collaboration between cyber partners, large IT companies like Microsoft and government agencies is absolutely critical to disrupt nation-state attacks like this
- The persistence and stealth of the hackers underscores the need for organizations to invest in advanced threat detection, automation and response measures and practices.
- The importance of threat intelligence sharing and collaboration between private and public stakeholders. Even companies that are competitors and use the same vulnerable software should collaborate and share threat intelligence information to combat cyber threats effectively, despite their rivalry in the business arena.

AI generated content, from LLMs like ChatGPT, could be used to influence and control how people think and feel by creating fake news, spreading misinformation, or manipulating public opinion.
Real human stories are replaced with AI-generated ones, making it difficult to distinguish between fact and fiction.
We must develop critical thinking skills to navigate this increasingly complex information landscape.

Rolling out next month, this platform will allow media publishers to charge users on a per article basis with one click.
This enables users who would not sign up for a monthly subscription to pay a higher per article price for when they want to read an occasional article.
Should be a major win-win for both media orgs & the public.
English

As leaders in the industry, we need to leverage AI to address the challenges mentioned in the article , but we also must recognise AI may be used by adversaries to launch sophisticated attacks, and there are regulatory and privacy concerns that have yet to be resolved.
At the stage we are at with this technology’s development there are still limitations, lack of regulation, ethical concerns, and potential risks associated with using AI.
If you are starting to leverage AI, make sure your deployment is effective (leveraging accurate data), secure, and trusted.

@elonmusk @TalulahRiley I think that’s an unfair comparison. AGI has the potential to solve some of of humanity's challenges, and we can end up improving quality of life. Unlike nuclear weapons, which are primarily designed for destruction and have led to an arms race / geopolitical tensions
English

@TalulahRiley I’ve seen quite a few technologies develop, but none with this level of risk. AGI is significantly higher risk than nuclear weapons, in my opinion.
Super smart humans have trouble imagining something vastly smarter than themselves.

Everyone should read Max’s article.
Most people I speak to suffer from combo of normalcy + survivorship bias when discussing AI; lots of “oh, but jacquard looms/printing press/automation/internet etc. etc.”
I keep being told that history is cyclical by people working to a timescale of “history” as post-Industrial revolution and who ignore concept of singularity/previous mass-extinctions/current extinctions/entropy etc.
And lots of people aren’t even aware of what’s happening! There should be massive public discourse. Need the equivalent of Greta Thunberg for AGI to step forward…

Humanity's lackadaisical response to the superintelligence threat makes me feel I'm in the movie "Don't Look Up". I just explained why here: time.com/6273743/thinki…

@BoredElonMusk Ah, the French Press, a classic choice. But you can't ignore the far superior method of Sock Brew! Stuff coffee grounds into an old (but clean) sock, tie it off, and steep in hot water 😋
