Mount Union LHP @JacobyEngelhar1 had an awesome winter break of simplifying his delivery and plan of attack. We have work left to do, but this is an awesome start and massive improvement heading into thr season!

I usually keep the topic to baseball here, but I have a life update.
In April, my wife Lesley was diagnosed with breast cancer after a routine checkup. Needless to say, this was a complete shock.
She began the treatment process and it has been a long road but treatment is working.
Through the summer, I was able to coach my son and this helped all of us keep a sense of normalcy amongst a chaotic time. I so grateful for the game and the bonds that come from it. It made a huge difference for my family.
To everyone who has been so supportive by sending meals, prayers, or simply thinking of us, thank you. It has not gone unnoticed.

@whoisadriandev @Dodgers Yeah I offered to play for them this year for league minimum with no incentives to pay them back for the dollars they lost when I was suspended but 🤷🏻♂️

Things you should probably do once your season ends (for at least a week):
-touch grass/sand/dirt with your bare feet
-catch up on sleep
-go to an outdoor concert or function
-eat a seafood medley
-take the sunglasses off
-align your circadian clock
-stretch 2x day
-meet up with friends to hike or do something active
-find a side hustle or summer job
-plan out your goals you want to accomplish once you reset
Few will understand the positive impact this has

If you know the story. It was a great ride @brodyware You have made this game better. You have made an impact on others. You always left everything you had out on the field & for that I am so proud of you. It was a privilege to be your coach but it is an honor to be your Dad

The greatest lesson I ever learned about dealing with pressure…
Came from a, Landscaper???
One of my best friends, college teammate and roommate once sent our team a message before we played one of the biggest series of the season
The message still sticks with me today:
“Any time you feel pressure, think about the pressure the guy sitting in a foxhole in the Middle East feels. Not knowing if he’s going to make it home, thousands of miles away from everything he’s fighting for.”
Powerful
He now runs a very successful landscaping company, but has seen firsthand what pressure actually looks like in real life
Not something made up when you’re playing a game
Pressure isn’t hitting a home run down one in the ninth
It’s making sure you can still work to support your family and put food on the table
Or a roof over your head
But Pressure means you care.
Pressure means it MEANS something to you
It doesn’t matter how minuscule the task or purpose.
But it usually ties back to something bigger than whatever is happening in that moment:
-you’re nervous during the big at bat because if you fail the team will lose, you’ll think about it for days/weeks/years, your coaches will lose faith in you, and your parents will be disappointed
-youre nervous to talk to the beautiful girl because you’ve gotten rejected in the past and your group of friends clowned you for it and made it personal
-you want your business to be successful because everyone told you in high school that you would be a failure and not amount to anything.
THAT is why you feel that pressure.
But how bad are those things in retrospect?
What if the scenario flips?
Really, your personal problems pale in comparison to the person mining for cobalt to put in the phone that you’re reading THIS TWEET on.
They’re making 20 cents a day to feed their entire family.
You just couldn’t get a hit today playing a GAME
Any high leverage situation is a blessing for you to showcase your skillset
Not a chore
So enjoy the moment
Smile and laugh in those pressure situations
Apollo Ohno, one of the greatest speedskaters in Olympic History, would YAWN before big races
Showcasing his relaxed approach to big moments
It’s just another day at the office
Not life or death
Relish the moment. Cherish it.
Who knows
Things just might work out.
And then you party
Hope you enjoyed this! If you did, throw this a Retweet and make sure you follow me!

For on this holy day, may your heaters rise over barrels just as Jesus did over his disciples
May your sliders slide, much as the door to his holy tomb did on the third day
May your pitch selections be right, much like he was seated at the right hand of god
And may you be confident in your ability to overcome the attempts of your enemies to defy your greatness, leading to an abundance of postgame BBQ on your travels to the homeland (the bus home from an away series)
“Don’t be alarmed,” he said. “You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him.

I’ll be pitching against the @Yankees on March 24 as a member of the @diablosrojosmx. I’ve also agreed to pitch 5 games for the Diablos between April 11 and May 8 in lieu of a traditional spring training period as it’s the best way for me to stay ready to pitch. This will help me stay in game shape and I’ll be able to join a rotation immediately if or when an MLB offer comes. Hope to see you on Sunday and can’t wait to show y’all what Mexican baseball is all about!
