It seems a common agreed conception about Toronto is that is has great food. So what makes Toronto food good? I spent the evening at tonight’s @build_canada launch event asking people this. My working theory is that we have ethnic food that still tastes good in spite of it being affordable. Someone said that New York and Tokyo are places where you can get the “best” “good” food - like fancy food and stuff. That’s not the same as the “good food” of Toronto. @greeningingreen said she heard Toronto being called the “airport food court.” That made me laugh. Not sure if that’s accurate though. I don’t think Tim Hortons and Wendy’s is what makes us the city for food. What is it then? I’m genuinely curious. Because if it’s one of our defining features - we need a clear definition of what we mean by “good food.” If it IS cheap ethnic food - then as prices raise and mom and pop immigrant restaurants close down, will this reputation be at risk of disappearing?

My mind is filled with materialistic needs and luxurious dreams: 6-figure jobs, 1M networth, supercars, high-rise condo, trips to Japan and Italy, etc

Back in 2015, I was in middle school, living in an old apartment block, surviving off the classic rice and stir-fried veggies momma made. All I dreamed of back then was eating KFC for dinner, having a girlfriend (puberty hits), and playing basketball after school.
