I quit my job with $400 in my bank account and a cracked laptop to edit videos full-time.
3 years later, I make more in a month than I used to make in a year.
Here's the story nobody tells you:
It started with a random $10 gig on Fiverr. A small business owner needed a promo video. Nothing fancy. I delivered it in 24 hours, he left 5 stars and said "this guy is the real deal."
That review changed everything.
My first client paid me $10. The video took 14 hours. I almost quit on the spot.
That was the moment I realized I had a skill people would actually pay for.
But I posted it. Tagged the client. Woke up to 3 DMs asking for work. I raised my rate to $150 the next week.
6 months in, I landed a fitness brand on retainer 3 videos a week, consistent income.
That one relationship changed everything. She referred me to 2 founders. Those 2 referred me to 4 more.
I never ran a single ad.
The editing? That's only 30% of the job.
The real work is learning to find clients, protect your time, price your value, and say no to projects that don't fit.
Nobody teaches you that part. You just have to live it.
If you're sitting on a skill right now thinking it's "just a hobby" someone out there will pay you for it.
Start before you're ready. Raise your rates before you feel worthy. Post your work before it feels perfect.
The version of you that figures it out is closer than you think.

I saved up my first 5 months allawee to get myself a laptop so I can take some tech courses.
I have a strong interest in Machine learning and Ai automation, I am open to guidance and mentorship.

Your edit is not bad because you added to little
It is bad when you added to much.
Effects everywhere, transition and all filling the whole screen
That's not editing
That's just noise competing for attention
This was one of my editing mistakes early on..

What most editors do when doing outreach is that they try to prove they are good.
But that’s not what you need to do.
What you need to prove is that you understand the creator’s goals, what they are doing, and how you can help them do it even better, not that you are good.
