I'm not sure that this episode was 100% successful in what it was trying to do, BUT if Ahsoka's fear and guilt driving her isn't apparent throughout this season....I do have to question whether you paid attention or genuinely sat to watch this in good faith. Fear is death. Guilt is death. Giving up is death. The fault of the writing here is that it, perhaps unintentionally, sets up Anakin's "Live or Die" *as* the lesson, when actually it's the choice for Ahsoka to make at the *end* of the lesson. That being said, it's important to note that Anakin never calls this ordeal a lesson. Ahsoka does, or at least assumes it will be. The lesson, or the final trial, is the sequence of visions Anakin takes Ahsoka through. "You lack conviction". Ahsoka won't just believe in something, she won't just commit, she won't let herself be grounded, won't stay in one place, one mindset. Save Ezra, leave Ezra. She is lost. Anakin *has* to pose this simple "Live or Die" to her because he's, essentially, making her choose. And that she does. "I choose to live." "There's hope for you yet."
