Sometimes it feels like I'm typing into the void. Then I realise, for the most part, I am. $KNDX

Thought we'd got lucky when I saw Mick Hucknall trending. Sadly still with us #TOTP

@NoContextBrits Eating a Mcdonalds meal deal while riding a tube home, from a boozy night out, people packed in like sardines, is... perfectly acceptable. It's to be applauded.

England & Wales population (mid-2023): 60.9M
PIP claimants: ~3.66M
6% of the population were receiving PIP at that time.

@halllouminati @WestminsterWAG Real data. Not all of the 25% are on disability benefit, but 24% is the number reporting a disability, a massive increase since 2002.

Is this true, as is being posted widely on X today?
78% of Muslim women do not work and receive state support and free accommodation.
63% of Muslims do not work and receive state support and free housing
State-supported Muslim families have an average of six to eight children who all receive free accommodation.

@Alfred_1095 @Melissa_suze @dppblade @DrChrisParry Mine was a direct reply to the 'indisputable evidence' of the commenter. You've just jumped in with a random question which is wildly out of context to my reply.

@halllouminati @Melissa_suze @dppblade @DrChrisParry Polygamy marriages are common within Islamic community. Are you denying that?

@ross_baglin @WestminsterWAG It's sad to see how many are so easily persuaded to demonise genuinely ill people. But yeah go for what you want to believe.
English

@halllouminati @WestminsterWAG 25% of the working age population are disabled? No, it won’t do. The bar is clearly way too low. It cannot go on. If it is not stopped in an orderly way now, it will be stopped abruptly and with much greater suffering later.

@FriendsofZeno @ross_baglin @WestminsterWAG So many fail so badly at reading comprehension. I did not allude to any of the 'nonsense' you've stated. People like you get so easily triggered, which is the reason why demons of this world have you in the palm of their hands. Slow down and apply critical thinking. JFC
English

@halllouminati @ross_baglin @WestminsterWAG So you believe 25% of people are severely disabled. Total nonsense and an insult to taxpayers.
English

@furious_apollo @WestminsterWAG You didn't address my actual point. I'm advocating for the genuinely ill. The real problem is that people are too simple minded and take the bait to rage instead of realising they're being played.
English

@AJ78292 @WestminsterWAG You may wish to read my reply again and adjust your level of comprehension.
English

@halllouminati @WestminsterWAG No, what is vile, is the Government not having a robust system to weed out those who are clearly not disabled but still manage to claim disability benefits. Sooner or later the whole system will collapse and then the genuinely disabled in our society will lose out.
English

@DanielPriestley Not in a position to define what it is or how much should be considered. The reality is that those with little to no money do not have the resources to fight an unjust system. Which is why they get shat on. Those with power or wealth do not share that burden.
English

To those advocating for a wealth tax. These are the key questions you must answer ...
- who determines how much wealth an individual has? If I own a company, is the value based on an independent valuation by an auditor/accountant? For intangible assets that are unique (data, software, etc) what value metrics will be used?
- Is it based on the average value for the year or is it based on the value on a given day? For example if I own shares that dropped in value throughout the year, what date is the value deemed taxable?
- When a UK business licenses IP from a non-UK company such as data, patents, registered marks, is that deemed to be part of the wealth of the local licensee?
- If a business in the UK is loss making or pre-revenue but deemed to be of value by investors based on it's long term forecast, will it's value be calculated now at the point of investment or prorated based on the multi-year forecast?
- How will we arbitrate disagreements in valuation? If a large auditor deems a company to be of lower value than an investor, whose value is correct?
- If an employee holds unexercised options in a foreign company, and they are theoretically valuable if exercised are those options deemed to be of value in this tax year?
- If a foreign company owns UK assets, are they subject to wealth taxes?
- If the owner of a company holds shares through a trust or holding company that has a portfolio of assets that perform differently, how will you determine the beneficial ownership amount for the individual tax payers associated with that structure?
- If a person owns a minority stake in a company but is not on the board and has no controlling interest and the company is illiquid, what value do you put on this minority stake?
- If a Limited Partner in a fund agrees to a lock up period, what is their stake in that fund worth this year given that no amount is achievable in reality?
- If an influencer has 1M subscribers on social media and is earning £1M per year passively from content, are they deemed to be using a valuable asset to achieve these passive returns or is this just income?
- How do we value music catalogues? If an expert put a theoretical value on Ed Sheeran's publishing rights, does that trigger an additional wealth tax?
Now if all of that seems unworkable, you'd be right. None of these questions have clear answers. These aren't edge cases; if you look at the wealthiest people in the UK, these are the types of questions you'd need to answer.
And ultimately the answers to these questions would be so confusing and contentious that no one in their right mind would want to deal with the UK tax system. This is also why wealth taxes get rolled back almost every time.
English

@furious_apollo @WestminsterWAG Which is not the same as genuinely ill and disabled people getting some element of support. Now that the economy has been ruined by our elites, making scapegoats out of vulnerable people is vile.
English

@ross_baglin @WestminsterWAG The bar is already set extremely high. If you're genuinely disabled and incapacitated, then it means exactly that. Hone in on the frauds, sure. But the cruelty currently shown to genuinely ill people is utterly gross.
English

@WestminsterWAG The bar for being unable to work should be set very high. Only those with the severest form of disability have the right to live off others. If the council needs to provide a job picking litter or cleaning the public realm, so be it. Idleness destroys souls and societies.
English

@jhall_m25 @WestminsterWAG Good that he has done that. Although its not a competition of who's disability trumps others. Most people would love to be able to lead a normal life. I worked from age 16 years right up to mid 50s. Disabled from 35 and have struggled. But my body has packed up. Am I a fraud?
English

@WestminsterWAG My friend's son has only one hand. He worked in a bank from 1988/89 until made redundant. He worked in the court system until covid. He now works in the office of a building comp. He helped his mum with his dad who suffered with MND & is an avid football supporter. Never claimed!
