I think I'm going to keep a thread open with examples of open, coded or unconscious UK media and political racism and Islamophobia in words and statements:

We'll take absolutely no lectures from @LambethLabour on Antisemitism. When I was smeared as a "Fake Jew" by a sitting Lambeth Councillor and Lambeth Labour candidate I raised a formal complaint to Lambeth Labour leader @clairekholland back in August 2025 and to this day I have not had a response, not even so much as an acknowledgement. To see @LambethLabour and people like @SteveReedMP weaponising Antisemitism for political gain is despicable and only serves to damage the very real fight against Antisemitism and indeed all types of racism.
Cllr Martin Abrams@Martin_Abrams

A MESSAGE FROM JEWISH GREEN PARTY CANDIDATES IN LAMBETH May 2026 Dear Neighbour, Lambeth Labour are engaging in relentless negative campaigning because they know that for the first time in 20 years there is a serious challenge to their failing regime. We are proudly Jewish Green Party candidates in Lambeth. We reject Lambeth Labour’s cynical misrepresentation of our party. We will never allow antisemitism or any form of racism to gain a foothold in Lambeth. Under a Green-led Lambeth, we will work every day to keep our Jewish community, and all minoritised communities, safe. A Green-led Lambeth will be a borough where people of all faiths and none will be welcomed and supported to flourish. The Green Party’s message of hope is cutting through, and voters are coming over to us in every ward in the borough. From building and renovating council homes, to ending rip-off outsourcing, to protecting our parks from over- commercialisation, and working directly with communities, our plan for Lambeth speaks to what people here want. Labour can’t defend their record of failure. They have nothing positive to offer the people of Lambeth andinstead are relying on scare tactics. On 7th May, vote for hope. Vote for a Green Lambeth. Yours truly, Cllr Martin Abrams, Green Party candidate, Streatham Hill East Jeremy Isaacs, Green Party candidate, St Martin’s Lisa Schulkind, Green Party candidate, Knight's Hill

That Melanie Phillips, who has engaged in the most unhinged & vicious bigotry - the "forces of Islam" are a "death cult", "no such thing as a Palestinian people" - continues to be invited onto news shows tells you everything about our media's double standards on racism/extremism.
Chris Doyle@Doylech

Why is Phillips who denies the existence of Palestinians as a people, who is an apologist for genocide and apartheid and blatantly anti-Muslim being platformed? Such extremism should not be broadcast.

@LibyaLiberty Should also say that if you take the 1,200 killed on October 7 and do the maths, you get a ratio of 1 militant for every 1.5-2 civilians, which apparently is miraculously humane in warfare?

Left: ITV News's Political Correspondent Carl Dinnen says that police officers 'apparently' kicked the suspect in the head, then showed police bodycam footage which doesn't show the kicks Right: The actual footage showing police kicking the suspect 5 times in the head after he was immobilised, on the ground, after being shot by a taser

@keewa the website is a simple contact form. The guy running it is a guy called ‘Neil Cohen’ who has a history at a few talent agencies including United. His name (and role) crops up in some of those ‘sign a letter to denounce BDS’ calls. Just incredible to outright call your front that

I remember a moment when I was travelling on the number 93 bus home when I was young. In Putney a group of white men got on the bus. There was a family with South Asian heritage on the bus. A woman, a man and two young kids. The woman had a bindi applied and was wearing a sari. It took all of two minutes for the guys to start, extremely loudly, saying things like ‘I smell P*kis’. The man and the woman had to put up with this most of the way to Wimbledon. They could have left the bus and waited for the next one, risking that group honing in on them or worse, getting off with them somewhere where there weren’t people around. They could have challenged the scumbags at the risk of even worse racism or possible violence. Instead, their kids had to witness and be exposed to this kind of stuff at that age. Now, I bring this up because I was very young at the time and this moment was probably my first time understanding how consequence-free white racism was. It was the first time I’d seen it without eg my father being around to mollify or distract me. And nothing has really changed for non-white people in Britain. If you go to Tile Hill in Coventry on a Friday night as an Asian group of friends or East Asians, you’ll get a ton of shouted racist abuse from drunk racists with nothing better to do. So, while I empathise with Shrimsley, assuming that this odd parable whereby his presumably white son is randomly asked in a bar if he’s Jewish is true, then it’s barely scratching the surface of what non-white Brits have to face day-in, day-out without the option of saying ‘no, no I’m just as white as you’. If this comes as a shock to Shrimsley, he should be grabbing a giant gong and bashing it endlessly about the type of British racism that leads white people to horrifically assault Sikh women because they look to them visibly “Muslim” or indeed to Jewish men asked if they’re Jewish in bars.

Utterly devastating from @robertshrimsley in FT. This should shame us all.

Completely unfathomable to me that in a week where we’ve heard nothing but ‘words at protests have a direct causal link to violence’ the British media have platformed this horror show, Phillips, several times. Not only was she an inspiration for Breivik, she’s spent the last twenty years spouting the most horrific, racist, violent, eliminationist stuff about Palestinians and Muslims.
Saul Staniforth@SaulStaniforth

".. what the Israelis are supposedly doing in Gaza" Supposedly. ".. the extent to which this hatred is being fuelled by a perception of not just misdeeds by the Israelis.." Perception. Misdeeds. Israel is a genocidal apartheid state & Phillips supports apartheid & genocide.

Difficult to describe how mainstreamed Islamophobia is in the UK now, and how far to the right the Tory Party has moved, that the party leader Kemi Badenoch can go on live national TV and defend Tommy Robinson and just erase his British Muslim targets and their fears and safety.
Mehdi Hasan@mehdirhasan

Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leader, actually went on the BBC and questioned whether Tommy Robinson (Tommy Robinson!) is “creating a climate of intimidation and violence” with his rally. Astonishing. She’s a disgrace. The safety or ‘feelings’ of UK Muslims don’t count for her.

Properly disgraceful that Trevor Phillips used that interview to basically infer that Zack Polanski wasn't a real Jew. Easily one of the most genuinely antisemitic things broadcast on UK television in generations, and it'll pass without comment because Phillips is in the club.

On this week's Sunday Morning with @TrevorPTweets, Transport Secretary Heidi Alexander came out to defend Sir Keir Starmer's leadership, while Green Party Leader Zack Polanski also found himself on the backfoot. 🔗trib.al/uVKzWwD

Shocking allegations of BBC complicity with Israel from Courtney Bonneau, who is on the ground in Lebanon covering its attacks.
courtneybonneauimages@cbonneauimages

The level of complicity of the @BBC in the ethnic cleansing of southern Lebanon is shocking. I am listening to their Jerusalem correspondent report that the ‘IDF are striking Hezbollah targets’ while I’m on the ground in the middle of it watching men, women and children being killed on a daily basis. My colleagues are being executed. Paramedics are being systematically murdered. All of this is happening in plain sight and the BBC correspondent here in Lebanon knows it. May you all be put on trial for your deadly propaganda when the time comes. Shame on all of you, especially those on the ground who are too cowardly to speak out.

I'm just so so sick of ignorant media Islamophobes in senior positions of the UK & US media viciously going after anyone that dares stand up against the slaughter and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people. Trevor Phillips notoriously got suspended from the Labour Party for Islamophobia, and you get the feeling, watching this astonishingly rude & sneary interview with @ZackPolanski, virtually the only senior British politician to show any sympathy for the Gazans, that Phillips frankly wouldn't lose a wink of sleep if every last Palestinian was erased from the face of the earth. He certainly can't see anything positive about protesting their genocide. Which raises the question: how and why did someone with such a record of toxic divisiveness ever get offered a Prime Time show in the first place?

When Jewish people speak out against genocide, why are our voices dismissed? And smirking while I describe someone Nazi-saluting at me isn’t just disrespectful - it feels deeply antisemitic. youtu.be/7VkfYJgLljE?si…
