RIP Jenni Murray. Giant of broadcasting. A defining voice from my childhood and throughout my life until her retirement. A meticulously prepared and superb interviewer. She made Woman’s Hour essential listening. 40% male audience when she was the main presenter.

I'm totally buying all Angine De Poitrine hype. @BBC6Music just played a full track. Annoyingly difficlt to obtain a ticket to a live UK show though. Lots of fun to be had here for music/showbiz press.

Fare thee well Andrew Ranken drummer of @poguesofficial. Fundamental and integral to the whole sound, feel and operation throughout. What a musical legacy though. RIP.

Another product lost to shitflation. Just sat down to a bowl of All Bran and thought it was strangely tasteless. Sure enough @KelloggCompany have ‘improved’ the recipe. The PR spin is that the new formula saves energy.

RIP Martin Townsend. One of the good guys of journalism (and in general) lost horribly young. He was so passionate about music, writing and politics amongst other things. I was lucky enough to work alongside him in recent years. We will miss you enormously.

When did you last read a newspaper leader column? They’re harder to find online but a great source of free intelligence. A Sun editor once barked at me: “Read the leaders – they tell you everything.” I expain why in a @PRWeekUK piece (paywall): prweek.co.uk/article/192511…

@TLRailUK @greateranglia Thank you. That is kind. It was worth a try! Thought there was a remote chance. I have filled the form out. Fingers crossed. I doubt anyone else wants my worn kit!

The new Standard is such a baffling product. Desperately wants to be a glossy magazine but is still printed on the same old paper. Almost zero mention of London. First thing you read is an interview with no connection to London, promoting a TV drama that isn't set in London

Dave Grohl seems to have given the ‘real life’ feature industry its biggest boost for decades. Mail in particular can’t get enough of it.

What is it with the word 'storied'. Had never heard of it until a few months ago. Now can't escape it. Read it twice today. Once to describe James Earl Jones in The Times. Then to describe The Spectator in the FT.

Scary to see a generation of journos (maybe two now) with such blind faith in networked technology that a failure like today's IT crash leaves them helpless. For the millionth time: anything networked is going to fail. Have local backup for *when* it happens ..ideally analogue.
