Quick Historical Context These men (and thousands more knights, soldiers, and pilgrims from across Western Europe) answered Pope Urban II’s call at the Council of Clermont in 1095. The goal: recapture Jerusalem and the Holy Land, which had been under Muslim rule (initially Arab, then Seljuk Turkish) since the 7th century. The immediate triggers were: - Persecution and attacks on Christian pilgrims traveling to Jerusalem. - The Byzantine Empire’s desperate plea for military help against the Seljuk Turks who had conquered much of Anatolia. The First Crusade was spectacularly successful from the European perspective: the Crusaders marched 3,000+ km, won major battles against much larger forces, and established four Crusader states (the Kingdom of Jerusalem, County of Edessa, Principality of Antioch, and County of Tripoli) that lasted nearly 200 years. The red cross on white became the uniform of the Crusading armies (and later inspired the flags of England, Switzerland, and the Knights Templar).

@Finix__0 I have no pity for him, Everyone begged him to stay but he left. Raph at this rate will surpass him at Barca. It's really a shame to see such a generational player reduced to such discussion

And True, this was the reason for the invasion Israel invaded Lebanon in 1982 (starting June 6) primarily to eliminate the threat posed by the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO), which had established a strong military and political presence in southern Lebanon during the ongoing Lebanese Civil War. The operation was officially named Operation Peace for Galilee (in Hebrew: Shalom HaGalil), reflecting the stated goal of protecting Israeli civilians in the northern Galilee region from PLO rocket attacks, artillery barrages, and cross-border guerrilla raids. Main Reasons from the Israeli Perspective (as Stated by Leaders like PM Menachem Begin and Defense Minister Ariel Sharon) - Security for northern Israel; In the years leading up to 1982, the PLO (and allied groups) used southern Lebanon as a base to launch attacks on Israeli border communities. These included rocket fire, shelling, and infiltrations that killed and injured civilians. Israel had already conducted a limited incursion in 1978 (Operation Litani) for similar reasons, but the threat escalated again by the early 1980s. The immediate trigger was the June 3, 1982, attempted assassination of Israel's ambassador to the UK, Shlomo Argov, by gunmen linked to the Abu Nidal Organization (a splinter Palestinian group hostile to the PLO). Israel blamed the PLO broadly and used this as the casus belli. - Destroy or expel the PLO: The PLO had built a "state-within-a-state" in Lebanon, with training camps, weapons stockpiles, and political infrastructure. Israel's aim was to dismantle this capability, push PLO forces north (initially claimed as a 40 km / 25-mile security zone), and force their evacuation (which eventually happened in September 1982 under international supervision, with many going to Tunisia).

@Mrcryptoxwhale you can't actually own a star (international law and the IAU don't allow it). Plus who even owns it to sell it?🤣

the only bad things about wins like today’s is it covers up the horror performances from some players. cancelo and aroro allowing a wasteman like elanga to score a brace against us it will be overshadowed by their teammates making up for it with 7 goals

Been to loads of Barça games now, but this is definitely the best game I’ve attended & it wasn’t because of the 7-2 scoreline. It’s my first time seeing these guys in the stadium live and the way they chant the whole time & the whole crowd going makes a MASSIVE difference, they’re incredible.
E@Ellis_

Looking forward to experiencing the atmosphere inside the Camp Nou later on tonight. Barça have won every game at home this season and only lost one in all competitions and that was against PSG when loads of players were out injured. Should be a routine win against Newcastle.

My honest opinion about Barcelona vs Newcastle Generally, I'm very excited for the win but it was a very poor display first half in the way we conceded. At this level, we shouldn't be going down easily after taking a lead. The Penalty gave us a lifeline Joan Garcia’s distribution has been a concern to me, it almost certain we will lose possession whenever he makes a long pass. Cubarsi and Gerard Martin’s partnership today wasn't the best like last week vs Newcastle but dealing with those Arial balls ain't easy so I give them a pass Joan Cancelo has been a revelation for us. He's filling in for Balde and Kounde when called on. To think some Barcelona fans never wanted his return was cringe. Sad for Eric. His replacement Araujo made Lamine’s movement very difficult like the last time Midfield was ok most especially second half. I'm happy Benal can be called upon when it's time to score which is a rare quality from a DM. I'm just worried about his passes, the ball feels too heavy for him Lamine apart from the Assist was pretty average, Raph was excellent and Grandpa Lewandoski apart from losing all his duels was fantastic in front of goal Even I wasn't expecting and 8-3 scoreline. Statement win going forward. Visca Barca
