It would be fascinating to see historical data for this sort of thing. I strongly suspect this phenomenon of being in a tiny unrepresentative minority but believing most people agree with you (and therefore feeling empowered to act) is a social media era phenomenon.

This is useful & matches our focus groups yes Reform voters more likely than average to have sympathy with rioters, but we are still talking just 1 in 4. Most Reform voters do not which certainly matches our conversations since the riots where most have no sympathy for rioters
