When a president attacks the Pope for preaching peace, Catholics should not need help figuring out which side they are on. Many kings, monarchs, despots, presidents, and regimes have attacked the Catholic Church across the centuries. Two thousand years later, the Church is still here. Many of those rulers are gone, and many of their nations have faded or fallen. We are Catholics first. Our loyalty is to Christ and His Church, not to any ruler demanding that Christians cheer for war and bloodshed. He should be well aware that Catholics account for at least half of the MAGA base. Catholics, like myself, got him elected and many staff his administration.
