7 weeks ago she came in emaciated after being abandoned on the streets of Thailand.
She was just 14kg / 30lbs, very sick and also unbeknown to us she was pregnant.

I have a Master Unlimited license to captain any ship of any size and any gross tonnage upon any ocean.
There are only two limitations to my license; nuclear and sail ships. I’ve only even met one unlimited master of steam, engine AND sail… but he didn’t have nuclear.
@michaelgwaltz @SenMarkKelly are working on legislation to make it easier for Navy sailors to get US Merchant Marine licenses.
I strongly support this program and hope @ChowdahHill becomes the first ever American to get the elusive Master Unlimited Any Gross Ton, Any Ocean, Any Propulsion

The rate of fire and “bark” of the 5”/38’s is really apparent. Remember this only 60% of what the WWII/Korean War configuration of Missouri 5” rate of fire was. Seen here, she only has 3 5”/38 mounts (6 guns) per side. 2 mounts (4 guns) per side were removed before this recommissioning.
USS New Jersey (BB 62) is also firing during this exercise.
Apparently USS Missouri beat USS New Jersey this day in overall gunnery, including rate of fire, to earn the Battle E award. New Jersey suffered a few gun casualties (breakdowns) as well. However this may just be typical “scuttlebutt” as it was sourced from the comment section of this video on YouTube.

Many times daily I fight back the existential dread that I feel when I find myself contemplating the inevitable. I simply can’t visualize what life would be like without her.

We were up 24/7 on shifts with our old gal for weeks before her death. Conflicting diagnoses kept us hopeful. The day we decided would be her last (a Sunday) we enjoyed a last sunset- fully intending on euthanizing her on Monday. She rallied, loved us up, then just after sunset in her favorite place she died. Pets are for their lives. You love them and care for them. Until the end. Period.
