Obstetrics and peri-operative cardiac arrest with @noolslucas: -74% of anaesthetic departments have obstetric units -1 in 3 units are located in remote sites -50% offer remifentanil PCA analgesia -obstetrics accounts for 13% of all anaesthetic workload -28 cases of cardiac arrest - risk of cardiac arrest is 4 times less than the NAP7 cohort -25 cases occurred in theatre. 8 in those who had a GA. 3 were associated with epidural analgesia -haemorrhage accounted for 7 cases, where 6 had the degree of haemorrhage underestimated -6 were associated with a high neuraxial block -no cardiac arrests with remifentanil PCAs or due to LA toxicity (interpret with caution) @RCoANews @NAPs_RCoA #NAP7
