@haroldvs @Schwwatzy @historiannick Yes, and mildly eccentric. First bumped into him at Wacken 2000 when he noticed my (his) Puissance t-shirt. Circa 2015 he served me at an Exeter branch of the Co-Op. Fortunately he's getting some local press but *how much* did he charge Emperor for his services??

@nickmoberly @Schwwatzy @historiannick He seems like quite a cool guy. A friend of mine got him to design a 'Life's Too Short For Black Metal' logo at a festival ("I will draw your logo for €20" stall type thing), which for a while you could buy printed on a shower curtain.

@Schwwatzy @haroldvs @historiannick On the topic of southwest scenic legends, bumped into Christophe Szpajdel on the corner of my street last month. He clocked my Absu t-shirt and, after some reminiscing, I challenged him to show me his legible AND asymmetrical band logos. Which he did, before abruptly cycling off.

@nickmoberly @Schwwatzy @historiannick It was quite an odd evening with Satyr and Frost in the family pizza restaurant, I have to say. They were gracious interviewees though, especially given that I was quite terrified. Piece ran with a huge printing glitch making half of it unreadable though.

@Schwwatzy @haroldvs @historiannick Great stuff, though I prefer @haroldvs encounter with Satyricon in the pizza restaurant! Mat McNorway was quite the social lubricant in UK-Nordic relations, but his peak came with The Tragedians' 'Krull' demo.

However, 2010 is the start of a rapid decline in my level of hipness to the latest beat combos (though, in fairness, 2011 sees a huge spike in detailed nappy knowledge).

Kvelertak sound like they are having way too much fun and I'm not invited to the party. High on Fire leave me... cold. Interesting that nobody mentioned Deathspell Omega 'Paracletus', which never clicked with me.

'Mercury' is a perfectly fine starting point if you bear in mind it was recorded in '99 on a budget of sixpence ha'penny and a packet of ready salted crisps. 'Eight ways' also good, 'Desiderata' and 'Marrow' also personal highlights.
