@aaron_drucker @DanielButlerMD @JAMADerm It made students who would be great clinicians not purse the application process because they don’t have “enough” publications. Also not uncommon to see research productivity significantly dropped during residency period after people matched.

@DanielButlerMD @JAMADerm Nicely written paper, Dan. The situation is similar in Canada. Another point: the scramble to add more and more publications often means lower quality research. This pollutes the dermatology literature, rather than advance science. That is bad for everyone, including patients.

@davidxzheng First of all, the match process doesn’t define someone. Second, when life shuts the door, open it again because it’s a door :) I took a gap year before medical school and did and learned so much from year. Never regretted. Best of luck for the incoming year!
