@Gary7gmg @spectator It would be very odd if there wasn't some improvement after all that spending. The question is whether it was a success relative to other places and whether it was value for money given the amount that was spent.

@Gary7gmg @spectator I quite understand why - he didn't want to antagonise motorists by making the traffic jams worse. But then why spend all the money? £80 million to buy the existing operators’ bus garages for no benefit. Slower journeys. Empty buses. Poor value for money.

@Gary7gmg @spectator Burnham got a lot of taxpayer's money from central government under Boris - ‘bus service improvement’ funding of £95 million plus a billion for capital spending on new buses, bus stations. It had limited impact because he wouldn't add bus lanes.
