I’ll be sharing thoughts on politics, leadership, discipline, and self-improvement — grounded in real experience, not slogans. If that resonates, follow along.

Wind is proving its value in the UK’s energy mix. The real challenge now is storage, grid capacity, and reliability during low-wind periods. A balanced, resilient system still matters.
National Energy System Operator@neso_energy

Yesterday #wind produced 44.0% of GB electricity, more than nuclear 16.5%, gas 16.3%, biomass 8.6%, imports 8.4%, solar 6.2%, *excl. non-renewable distributed generation

Climate action is no longer a distant objective — it is central to economic stability, public health, and long-term resilience. The challenge now is translating ambition into coordinated, practical policy at scale.

UK inflation expectations have risen sharply in recent data, highlighting risks of more persistent price pressures. This may complicate the policy outlook for the Bank of England in the months ahead. @bankofengland @ONS

From April 2026, changes to employment rights — including sick pay, parental leave and worker protections — mark a notable shift in the UK’s labour market framework. The focus now should be on how these reforms are implemented in practice and their impact on both workers and businesses.

The debate around central bank digital currencies is accelerating globally. If designed well, digital currencies could modernise payment systems and strengthen financial resilience - but their impact on banks, privacy and financial markets will require careful policy design.
European Central Bank@ecb

The digital euro can be a springboard for bank digitalisation, write Executive Board member Piero Cipollone and Supervisory Board Vice-Chair Frank Elderson. It strengthens Europe while helping banks modernise, compete with non-banks and stay profitable ecb.europa.eu/press/blog/dat…

The OECD has downgraded the UK’s 2026 growth forecast to 0.7%, the biggest cut among major economies. Rising energy prices and geopolitical tensions are already feeding into the economic outlook. A reminder that global events increasingly shape domestic policy choices.

International Day to Combat Islamophobia - 15 March Today, on the International Day to Combat Islamophobia, we stand in solidarity with Muslim communities across the United Kingdom and around the world who continue to face prejudice, discrimination, and hostility because of their faith. Islamophobia has no place in our society. Every individual should feel safe, respected, and valued regardless of their religion or background. Sadly, many Muslims still experience discrimination in their daily lives, whether in workplaces, online spaces, or within their local communities. This day is an important opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to tackling anti-Muslim hatred, promoting understanding, and strengthening the values of respect, equality, and inclusion. The British Muslim Friends of Labour remains committed to working with communities, policymakers, and partners to challenge prejudice and ensure that Muslim voices are heard and represented. At a time when division and misinformation can easily spread, it is more important than ever that we stand together to promote unity, mutual respect, and community cohesion across our country. Together, we must continue to build a society where people of all faiths and backgrounds can live with dignity, security, and opportunity.

International Day to Combat Islamophobia is a call for action to stamp out the poison of anti-Muslim hatred. Discrimination diminishes us all. We must stand up against it.

It was a great to attend an Iftar organised Superintendent Sharon Jackson and her colleagues in London. I had meaningful conversations about how policing can continue to build community cohesion and strengthen trust between the police and the communities they serve.

Statement from the British Muslim Friends of Labour British Muslim Friends of Labour warmly welcomes the Government’s decision to introduce a formal definition of anti-Muslim hatred and hostility. This is an important and timely step in recognising the very real challenges faced by Muslim communities across the United Kingdom. In recent years, incidents of anti-Muslim hatred and hostility have been on the rise, affecting individuals, families, and communities. A clear and recognised definition is vital to help public bodies, institutions, and law enforcement agencies better identify, record, and respond to incidents of anti-Muslim hatred. Having a formal definition will also help raise awareness of the issue, encourage stronger action against discrimination, and ensure that Muslim communities feel heard, protected, and supported. No one in our society should feel unsafe or marginalised because of their faith. British Muslim Friends of Labour believes this step sends an important message that hatred and discrimination have no place in our country. We hope this development will strengthen efforts to promote equality, mutual respect, and social cohesion across the United Kingdom. We look forward to working with government, community organisations, and partners to ensure this definition helps deliver meaningful progress in tackling anti-Muslim hatred and building a more inclusive society for all. The Reform leader @Nigel_Farage says he’s building something new, yet he’s surrounding himself with the same figures from the @Conservatives Party who caused the problems he now claims to fix 🤦 @UKLabour
