Transition is an inherently selfish act. It affects everyone around you. Yet you pursue it to the exclusion of everyone else’s feelings around you. It’s like chasing the dragon for something you can never achieve: you can’t change sex. It’s always about the next surgery, next dose of hormones, and a constant focus on one’s external appearance & how they appear to others. Transition leaves widows in its wake. It leaves parents without children. Unless you agree with everything trans, you will most likely become estranged. That’s very encouraged in the TQ+ community. To break family ties. One of the many ways in which TQ+ operates like a cult.

Leaving a cult is very difficult. The last year with leaving trans behind has brought to mind Plato’s Allegory of the Cave. Like I had been chained inside of a dark cave watching shadows cast on the wall instead of reality. I broke free like the prisoner in the story and saw the actual sun & real objects. When I returned to the cave to tell the other prisoners the good news, that the shadows on the cave wall aren’t real, they all ganged up on me and killed me for telling the truth. Trans made an example out of me of what happens when you leave the cult to speak the truth. I would do it all again 1000 times over because the truth is way more valuable than vapid popularity.

This is exactly what happened to me over time. The American left got progressively more radical. It took a decade to shift my politics. Becoming a Republican has less to do with Trump for me and more to do with the future of the country and the world. I did not vote for the man 3 times in a row. Yet, I’ve come to appreciate what he’s done to fight gender ideology & to kill the cancer that is wokeness.
