It has been such a long journey for Brent to reclaim $100/bbl since the summer of 2022. I’ve been on the commodities desk all this time, and even though I trade various assets as a PM now, commodities will always be my home. I suffered a crushing failure in the oil sector in '24 and nearly lost my job. I managed to turn my career around with metals and equities, but no matter how much money I make, I believe everyone has that deep-seated attachment to their home. No one knows what the future holds. This could be a fleeting moment, and we might never see $100/bbl again. But just for today, I want to savor this small victory. I’ve been waiting to feel this moment again, especially knowing how long the energy has been suppressed and ignored. Those who have spent a long time in this industry will know exactly what I’m feeling. We trade both long and short, but it’s only natural for anyone to want their own space to thrive. So here it goes: Make Oil Great Again.
