Some good news this morning...my Cure Boston 1st edition poster shipped from the Cure Store on Sept. 7th. That just leaves Boston 2nd edition as the only thing I'm still waiting on.

These poor flex posts at Hawthorne and Main work hard and I almost never see them up because drivers are always hitting them. This intersection is awful and I’m glad it’s being redesigned. I can’t count the number of times I’ve almost been hit here. #Ottawa #OttWalk #Autowa

@twitandrewking I worked in a museum for a year and one of my jobs was to go through the old card catalogue and locate the items and update the online data base. So the items were kind of missing in theory but actually just not accounted for online.

Built in 1894, the Brockville Asylum followed the ideology of Dr. Thomas Story Kirkbride, who developed an overpowering influence in North America in the handling of the insane and, especially, the type of hospital design required to fulfill then-current mental health-care objectives. “Moral” therapy, believed that diseased minds could be returned to normalcy by care of the body coupled with the absence of stress and the imposition of a regular routine. “Moral” treatment saw the role of the institution as returning the patient to a state of normalcy (or morals) by providing a stable environment, heavily rule-bound, in which the individual made very few, if any decisions. Set times for eating, sleeping, work and recreation, a regular routine of activities, and an absence of decision-making regarding the myriad of normal daily details, from dress to meal choices to bedtimes, would reduce the strain on the disturbed patient. Daily routines focussed on low-stress pursuits, always well supervised, such as gardening and other forms of horticulture; indoor activities such as sitting, simple games such as cards and checkers and, for women, sewing; and outdoor recreations thought to be relaxing, such as walking, boating, lawn bowling and tennis. These outdoor activities placed the patient closely in touch with nature, which was itself thought to be a great healer of diseased minds.

Shocking. Another storm, another power outage. Guess I live in the 3rd world part of Ward 9 @DevineSean . When the same area goes out all the time maybe that’s a hint that there’s a problem that should be looked at. Maybe? Just maybe? @hydroottawa @ctvottawa
