The volume of people with money and/or ambition leaving the UK is staggering. A once great country is being walked off a cliff by vibes based envy economics. We were once a great country and we're rules by idiots.

Okay, lets play this out sir... - We raise the minimum wage Option A - I let staff go because the business can't afford them, they have no money and still can't afford a coffee. Option B - We raise the minimum wage, shop loses money, we raise prices, they still can't afford the coffee. I wish people like you would read a book rather than so confidently not understanding the problem.
Callum R@GoldRobin_11

@PeterMcCormack What do we do about people on minimum wage who can’t afford rent/basic goods? Maybe the reason people don’t go to your coffee shop is because they don’t have enough money? Do you think at all or just spout drivel?

After an afternoon of arguing with socialists, here it is... These people are impossibly and dangerously stupid. They are making up policies as they go which will cause nothing but economic destruction. It is evident when arguing with them they have little to no understanding of the reality of economics and their ideas come from envy. They are predators. But... this was caused by the state itself: 1. Allowing leftism to take over the institutions 2. Buidling an education system with baked in Marxism 3. Failing to control inflation We are in very dangerous times.

@PeterMcCormack It's the law of capitalism that monopolies consolidate a market and eat up small businesses. Nothing to do with paying your staff a relatively small amount more so they can survive. Why don't you sell some bitcoin? That would involve some actual wealth transfer though

A minimum wage of £15 would end my coffee shop, it would have to close, as would many other businesses. I’ll explain for the economically illiterate. Staff costs are currently half our costs, a £15 minimum wage is actually more than £15 an hour for the company, because you have to add: - 12.07% holiday - Sick pay - Maternity pay if and when required - National insurance - Pension contributions These costs would mean the shop loses money because remember, energy costs are up, rates are up, regulations are up. Now you can pass these costs onto the consumer - that would mean charging a lot more for coffee, people won’t pay it. The likes of Starbucks and Costa can, because they have economies of scale. The independent doesn’t. Now the little socialist will say well this is your fault, if you can’t run a business that can afford to pay its staff properly, but the little socialist has never run a business and does not understand the dynamics. Now I could pay some staff off and fill those hours myself or reduce us to one staff member during certain periods - but this proves the point that a minimum wage costs jobs. There was a time when these jobs were done by kids, perhaps on the weekend, paid a lower wage, no holiday and no silly employment rights. Perhaps they were even paid cash. The dynamic worked and small businesses like this could operate. It was also a great first job. Sadly now it isn’t worth employing entitlement youngsters at this level of pay. So alas, I don’t need the stress, the business would close, a number of jobs would be lost. Economics is about understanding these dynamics, no vibes. The cost of living is not solved through passing on inflation to the business, it is solved by ending high inflation and creating prosperity. This is what socialists don’t understand, they can’t create prosperity, they can only destroy it.

The Greens will raise the minimum wage to £15 for all workers 💪

@PeterMcCormack @mcnicollme The market rate is paying them enough so they can continue to live and buy stuff. Sorry but you can't afford the market rate and will be eaten up by monopolies. That's capitalism

Panellists on Question Time spent half an hour competing in their calls for even more severe curbs on the right to protest against Israel's genocide, claiming it was the only way to stop attacks on Jews like the one in Golders Green. Finally, when the Green party's deputy leader made a limp attempt to suggest linking the two was wrong, Fiona Bruce immediately shut her down. We are now far, far down the road to authoritarian Britain.

The reaction to the incident in Golders Green showcases the Jewish supremacism at the heart of Britain today. Before we saw any real evidence, we had the Prime Minister and other ministers, as well as the mainstream media, blend into a single chorus about ‘terrorism’, supposed ‘rising antisemitism’ and the mythical ‘Iranian threat’. It is, sadly, not unusual for someone with previous convictions and suffering from mental ill-health to have stabbed two people. There are countless other examples of such behaviour. And in London alone last year, there were 16,344 knife (or sharp instrument) offences recorded by police. I am not convinced that this was a ‘terrorist attack’, and it certainly had no connection whatsoever to Iran. Even if, hypothetically speaking, Jews were singled out as a motive for this attack, what makes that worthy of rolling news coverage and political statements when other such attacks against different minorities do not? Zionist organisations have also opportunistically used the attack to launch a cash-grab from the British state, which has duly complied and pledged them millions of pounds. Cha-ching! No other minority or group is given this special treatment. The absurdities of this situation are as clear as day for most ordinary people to see. And yet we are seeing moralisation about ‘Jewish fears’ by insufferable Zionists and their supporters, who have spent the last two-and-a-half years supporting genocides in Gaza and Lebanon, and an unprovoked war of aggression against Iran. This incident, along with other dubious ‘antisemitic attacks’, will be used to further diminish our freedom of expression and assembly. The effects of that will cascade and affect every British citizen regardless of how well-insulated they think they are from this ever-increasing state capture.

Nobody on the left would be making these ridiculous claims that the Epstein Regime is executing a brilliant master plan in perfectly timed stages in order to lock every Asian country into total dependence on US oil exports if they bothered to take even a little bit of time to look into the material realities and built-in structural limitations to see how such a plan might work beyond sheer force of will and military might. People should be worried, yes, and it is our job to get people to see there is an unprecedented global crisis already playing out that's about to get much, much worse. But we need to be more rigorous in investigating all the major economic and geopolitical factors at play before popping off from one catastrophizing prognostication to another. The very people we're trying to move DO start to notice when your overconfident, ill-informed, worst-case scenario-as-the-most-likely-scenario conspiracy theories are frequently (and almost immediately) invalidated by new facts on the ground. They will learn to start tuning you out, and with good reason! Strive to arm people with the correct information based on sound material analysis rather than rushing out with the loudest prediction in the hopes you can later brag about how you were the first one to warn people about it.

I can't believe I'm saying this, but if you are a MARXIST trying to educate and organize people for the coming crisis, you absolutely have to make an effort to learn as much as you can about key aspects in global logistics, financial markets, and industrial supply chains.

I'm not sure why this is being so widely reposted when it is flatly untrue. I say this as someone who was and is opposed to the banning of P.A. but they were banned for what they did, not what they said. And I've seen zero evidence (or, until now, suggestion) that the Israeli govt demanded it.

Carlson: "it is a crime for which you can be arrested.. criticising Israel. You say you're for Palestine Action, you can be arrested.." Derbyshire: "That is not true.." "What is not true about that?" "Palestine Action is a proscribed group. It is banned" "Why is it banned?"

Right now you’re largely experiencing the economy from a time when the Strait of Hormuz was open, because it takes many weeks for oil tankers to traverse the seas. You still experience the Strait as open, even though it’s been closed for weeks. But once that reality hits…

Paradox: If you see a baby located 90 light-years from Earth, right now it would be a 90-year-old, but you see it in your present, as a baby. While the light takes time to reach you, the baby grows and ages. When you look at the universe, you are always looking at the past.
