This is the replacement for my old account @HunterEAmbrose -- unfortunately my account info got all messed up (partially my fault) and I cannot gain access to it on any other device. So if you're an old follower, that's why you're receiving a follow from this account. I cannot post to the old one any longer.

@butt_watermelon Janny Wurts is the most classic fantasy adjacent author in the genre. Her Wars of Light and Shadow series is incredible. Malazan Book of the Fallen by Steven Erikson is also good So is R Scott Bakker’s catalogue — though it’s a bit more adult

Men finding women beautiful isn’t porn-brained. Porn caters to men’s carnal base instincts and most men report feeling bad after watching porn because they resent that they watch it. It keeps men trapped in a lonely cycle of laziness and despair. Beauty, on the other hand, elevates men to greatness. It’s the force that inspires him to conquer. Architecture, poetry, music, and many creative endeavors come from a man’s love of beauty.

The Gregorian calendar is broken. We should fix it: • 13 month year • 28 days each month • Every month starts on Monday • Every month ends on Sunday Add a new month between June and July called “Sol.” Add “Year Day” after Dec 28 where everyone has the day off. Then fix the holidays: New Year’s Day: January 1 MLK Day: Jan 15 Super Bowl Monday: February 8 Christmas: February 25–26 Easter Monday: April 8 Valentine’s Day: April 23 Memorial Day: May 22 Juneteenth: June 19 Independence Day: Sol 11–12 Labor Day: July 22 Halloween: October 26 Election Day: November 8 Thanksgiving: November 25–26 Year Day You’re welcome.

GRITCULT
GRITCULT@GRITCULT·
Dostoevsky was 28 when they stood him in front of a firing squad. Blindfolded. Hands tied. He could hear the rifles being loaded. At the last second a messenger on horseback arrived. The Tsar had commuted the sentence. The entire execution was staged. Psychological torture designed to break him. It worked. He had a seizure on the spot. They sent him to a labour camp in Siberia. 4 years. Freezing. Starving. Sleeping on wooden planks next to murderers. His epilepsy got worse. He had no paper. No pen. Nothing. When he got out he was broke. His first wife died. His brother died. He inherited his brothers debts. He was so desperate for money he signed a contract with a publisher that would have given away the rights to everything hed ever write if he missed the deadline. He wrote The Gambler in 26 days to make it. Dictated it to a 20 year old stenographer named Anna. Married her three months later. Then the real work started. Crime and Punishment. The Idiot. Demons. The Brothers Karamazov. The greatest novels in the history of the Russian language. Maybe any language. The man who stood blindfolded before the firing squad, who convulsed on the ground while soldiers watched, who slept next to killers in Siberia for 4 years, who was buried in debt and grief. That man wrote: "every minute can be an eternity of happiness." He earned the right to say it. its never over. never give up fren.

We ask, “Why have lyrics gotten less sophisticated? Why is satire no longer possible? Why do readers mistake authors’ depictions of events for moral statements?” & in each case the answer is, “Because people don’t read much & intelligent content no longer draws a wide audience.”

Side effect of the literacy crisis is people not recognizing literary devices anymore

Monarch on Apple TV is infuriating to watch specifically bc the guy assigned to protect the scientists only carries a sidearm even after encountering giant monsters It irritates me to no end when characters who routinely encounter imminent danger refuse to actually prepare for it like a real human

Videogames give boys the things they yearn for but are forbidden in society: -Conquest -Glory -Adventure -Honor -Recognition -Tribalism -Brotherhood -Enemies -Violence Video games are attacked cas they're the last ghetto of masculinity. Hence Gamergate.

No other human being that has ever existed was born with your exact coordinate in space-time. No single person has experienced the same things you have from your vantage point. Some are further along than others ofc, but you have genius in the recesses of your mind. The time it takes you to do this is secondary; your primary task is to figure out how you can articulate it in a way that is coherent with your vessel. Nobody else will ever be able to do this like you can.
