"The FDA is proposing an output limit of 115 to 120 dB for OTC hearing aids. This is simply too high for sustained use by people who are struggling with mild or moderate hearing loss." ow.ly/i3ze50Kba2k

Proper safeguards must be in place to protect Americans suffering from hearing loss. The @US_FDA must ensure that #OTC hearing aids have dB and gain limits to ensure device safety and effectiveness. ow.ly/FcZ350K3Jrg

On average, people wait 7 years between first noticing their hearing loss and finally taking action. We seek to change that.

Sound advice, @cdc! Did YOU know that a change of 10 dB is accepted as the difference in level that is perceived by most listeners as “twice as loud” or “half as loud”? A 10 dB difference can be “dangerous decibels” for OTC hearing aids, and should NEVER exceed 110 dB! #DoNoHarm
CDC@CDCgov

Help protect your hearing! Fireworks can reach 140 decibels and exceed 160 decibels. That’s like standing next to a jet taking off. Remember to wear earplugs or earmuffs to protect your hearing. Learn more at bit.ly/2V94atu.

"If the current output level is maintained and a gain level is omitted, hearing aids can be amplified to levels that are dangerous for those with mild-to-moderate hearing loss. This proposed output limit would also violate the authorizing statue."
