News came late but I’m very excited to be awarded the @MSCActions Marie Curie postdoc fellowship to investigate the inertial effects on microplastics in turbulent wavy flow. Look forward to 2 more years working with Prof Jason Hearst @hearst_lab and Prof James Dawson at @eptntnu

Exciting post-doc opportunity available on the @ERC_Research project #WaTurSheD, led by my colleague Prof Simen Ellingsen. The project is focussed on understanding how ocean mixing is dependent on wave-turbulence-current interactions! I will co-supervise. jobbnorge.no/en/available-j…

Can you use active grids to investigate other problems? Sure can! Check out the collaborative work from Oddbjørn and our colleagues at Structural Engineering with us @eptntnu on how bridge decks respond to turbulence: doi.org/10.1016/j.jwei…

Magnus K Vinnes will defend his PhD tomorrow, 10:15 & 13:15 local. His work focusses on the use of actuator disk analogs in a wind tunnel and comparison to rotating wind turbine models. He does this for individual turbines as well as a farm! Details here: tinyurl.com/3tk44cck

@jimjonquinn @eptntnu Yes. Good description! It goes by many names. Freestream turbulence, inflow turbulence, some older works refer to it as “external” turbulence, as in, from a source external to the system/flow being studied.

@hearst_lab @eptntnu Not familiar with external turbluence - as in turbulence already present in the inflow?

How does external turbulence impact classic turbulent flow problems? Check out my seminar as part of the Australasian Fluid Mechanics Seminar Series. Tune in Oct. 26, 17:00 AEDT (08:00 CEST): tinyurl.com/5n7b97wr @eptntnu

Mentioned to the team @eptntnu that @Bharath_Lab @GBharathram has numbered graduation shirts, so they designed their own for our group (as hockey jerseys-Canadian link). Congratulations to #01 Dr. Olav Rømcke and #02 Dr. Leon Li! Maybe someone will be joining you soon...!
